ChatVault - AI Chat Backup & Export
Overview
Back up, export and organize AI chat conversations locally with completeness checks and ZIP archives.
ChatVault turns conversations you can already access in supported AI chat services into local, portable archives. Conversation data is processed on your device and is not sent to ChatVault or any third party. Create useful local backups • Export the conversation open in your current tab. • Scan the visible conversation list and choose many conversations for one backup job. • Save normalized JSON, Markdown, plain text and self-contained HTML inside a ZIP archive. • Include a versioned manifest with item status, message counts, integrity warnings and content hashes. Know when an export may be incomplete ChatVault loads long and lazy-rendered histories before extraction. It compares the content it can observe with available completeness signals. If a history cannot be proven complete within the loading budget, the export is marked incomplete instead of being reported as a silent success. Resume larger jobs Batch jobs use local checkpoints. You can pause, resume, cancel and retry failed items without discarding conversations that already finished. Processing uses a conservative pace to reduce pressure on the supported service. Find retained conversations locally Keeping a searchable copy in the local Vault is optional and off by default. When enabled, you can search the normalized text, filter by service or date, preview a conversation, export it again, delete one item or erase all local ChatVault data. Minimal, per-service access ChatVault requests access to one supported service only when you enable it. It reads conversation titles, messages, timestamps, links and attachment references only for exports you start. Revoking one service does not affect the others. Local-first privacy • No ChatVault account or application backend. • No cloud backup or synchronization. • No passwords, cookies or authentication tokens are requested or stored. • No remote executable code. • No conversation content, titles, URLs or attachments are sent to ChatVault, analytics providers or advertisers. • Optional diagnostics are content-free and are downloaded locally only when you request them. How to use ChatVault 1. Open ChatVault and read the local data-use disclosure. 2. Enable one supported service and approve that service's optional host permission. 3. Sign in to the service in a normal browser tab. 4. Quick-export the open conversation, or open Batch backup to scan and select conversations. 5. Choose JSON, Markdown, TXT or HTML, and optionally keep local Vault copies. 6. Start the job and review its completeness and failure summary before storing the ZIP safely. Current limitations ChatVault can export only conversations visible to your signed-in account. Service interface changes can temporarily affect extraction. The current release does not provide PDF export, scheduled backup, cloud sync, automatic migration between services, AI summaries, tags or semantic search.
