ChatLodge — Save, search, and revisit/re-ask your best AI chat answers. Works with any text. Every day you get great answers from your AI chat tools — then lose them in an endless scroll of chat history. ChatLodge fixes that. Save any AI answer in one click, and find it later by meaning, not keywords — entirely on your device, with no account required. Currently supported: ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini — plus other popular AI chat platforms. ──────────────────────────────────────── HOW IT WORKS ──────────────────────────────────────── 1. SAVE — ChatLodge adds a Save button inline on every supported chat platform. When you read an answer worth keeping, click Save. That's it. 2. INDEX — A local AI model runs entirely in your browser and generates a semantic index of your saved answers. No API key, no external server, no data leaves your device. 3. SEARCH — Open the ChatLodge popup or side panel and ask in plain language: "how did I set up that Redis connection?" or "what was that Python trick for parsing dates?" ChatLodge finds the right answer by meaning, even if the words don't match exactly. One vault, all your AI tools — so you're not stuck hunting through a dozen separate chat histories. ──────────────────────────────────────── FEATURES ──────────────────────────────────────── ONE-CLICK SAVE A Save button appears inline on every supported platform. Capture any answer without interrupting your flow. You can also save custom entries manually — paste any text you want to keep, from anywhere. SEMANTIC SEARCH, FULLY ON-DEVICE Search your saved answers by meaning, not just keywords. The embedding model runs locally in your browser — no API key, no server, no cost per query. Free users get 50 semantic searches per month; Pro is unlimited. AUTO-TAGGING Every saved answer is automatically tagged by topic (code, research, writing, and more). Tags appear instantly, with no configuration needed. STALENESS ALERTS AI answers go out of date. ChatLodge tracks how old your saved answers are and flags ones on fast-moving topics — tech (90 days), research (60 days), general (180 days) — so you know when to re-ask. SIDE PANEL + POPUP Access your vault from the popup or pin the side panel for a permanent knowledge sidebar while you browse. Search, browse by tag, and re-ask without leaving your current tab. QUICK PASTE (keyboard shortcut) Alt+Shift+S opens a Quick Paste panel anywhere — paste any text to save it to your vault instantly, without switching tabs. RE-ASK ON THE SAME PLATFORM (Free) One click sends a saved prompt back to the same platform it came from. Useful when an answer has gone stale and you want a fresh response. RE-ASK ON ANY PLATFORM (Pro) Send a saved prompt to a different AI platform in one click — compare how two assistants answer the same question, or continue a conversation on whichever one is best suited for the task. EXPORT & IMPORT — JSON AND MARKDOWN (Pro) Export your entire vault to JSON (for backup or migration) or Markdown (for Obsidian, Notion, or any note-taking app). Import a previously exported vault to restore it on a new device. Your data is yours. CUSTOM TAG RULES (Pro) Write your own regex-based tagging rules to organise your vault your way. Rules are applied automatically every time you save. END-TO-END ENCRYPTED CROSS-DEVICE SYNC (Pro) Sync your vault across devices without trusting us with your data. Your vault is encrypted on your device with your own passphrase before anything is sent — only ciphertext reaches our servers. Your passphrase and readable content never leave your device. Even we cannot read your vault. ──────────────────────────────────────── PRIVACY ──────────────────────────────────────── ChatLodge is private by design: • Saved answers and semantic search run entirely on your device. • The AI model is bundled inside the extension — no CDN, no remote model loading, no inference API. • No analytics, no tracking, no advertising, no telemetry of any kind. • No account is ever required — free or Pro. • Only the specific chat platform domains needed for the Save button are requested as permissions. No broad host access, no access to unrelated websites. • On the free tier, your data never leaves your browser. • If you enable Pro sync, only end-to-end encrypted ciphertext is sent. We cannot decrypt it. ──────────────────────────────────────── FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ──────────────────────────────────────── Do I need an account? No. ChatLodge never requires an account — on the free tier or on Pro. Pro is activated with a license key, not a login. Does ChatLodge read my browsing history? No. ChatLodge only has access to the specific chat platform domains it supports. It reads answer text only when you explicitly click Save. Where is my data stored? Locally in your browser (IndexedDB). Uninstalling ChatLodge removes all locally stored data. Pro users who enable sync have an additional encrypted copy stored on our servers; it can be deleted from settings. Does the search model send data to a server? No. The model runs entirely in your browser. No query, answer, or embedding is ever sent to a server for search. Can I use ChatLodge offline? Yes. Saving and searching work offline. Sync requires an internet connection; license re-validation has a 7-day offline grace window. What happens if I hit the free save limit? You'll see a warning at 180 entries and a hard stop at 200. You can delete old entries to free up space, or upgrade to Pro for unlimited. Is ChatLodge open source? Not currently. The extension is a commercial product by Sanora Tech.
