Know how much ChatGPT you have left, without leaving your chat. ChatGPT Usage Extension adds a small floating widget to chatgpt.com that shows your plan usage limits and your remaining feature quotas, with the exact date and time each one resets. The numbers come straight from ChatGPT's own usage data for your signed-in account, read in your browser. KEY FEATURES Plan limits at a glance Progress bars show the percent used of your plan limits, the same figures as ChatGPT's Settings > Usage page. Depending on your plan you see a 5-hour, weekly or monthly limit, labeled by its actual length. These limits are shared across Codex, Work, Workspace Agents and ChatGPT for Excel. Per-model limits If your plan has separate limits for a specific model, such as GPT-5.3-Codex-Spark, or a separate code review limit, each one appears as its own bar. You can see when one of them is exhausted even while your main plan limit still has room. Feature limits See how many uses you have left for features with their own quota, such as Thinking, Deep research, image generation and file uploads, and when each one resets. The list shows only the features ChatGPT reports for your account. Exact reset times Every limit shows the exact date and time it resets, in your local time, for example "Resets Oct 5, 11:02 PM". Color coded status Bars are green up to 60% used, amber above 60%, and red above 85%. A banner appears when a plan limit is reached. Toolbar badge and popup The toolbar icon shows the percent used of your first plan limit, color coded. Hover it to see all limits, or click it to open a small popup where you can refresh or turn the on-page widget off. Refreshes on its own Usage updates after each ChatGPT reply finishes, when you return to the tab, when a limit resets, and every few minutes while the tab is visible. To refresh right away, use the refresh button in the toolbar popup. It works even when no ChatGPT tab is open. Plan badge Shows your plan, such as FREE, GO, PLUS, PRO or BUSINESS. Business and Enterprise workspaces show the usage of the workspace you are signed in to. Put it where you want it Drag the widget anywhere and it stays there. Collapse it to a compact bar that still shows your plan limits, or close it until you navigate to another page. Ten themes, synced Pick from ten presets with a single slider, or reset to the default that follows ChatGPT's light and dark mode. Your choice syncs across the computers where you are signed in to Chrome. Stays out of the way The widget renders in an isolated Shadow DOM, so it cannot clash with ChatGPT's styles. If you are signed out or ChatGPT reports no usage data, it simply does not appear. WHY THESE PERMISSIONS Access to chatgpt.com Needed to show the widget on chatgpt.com and to read your usage limits from ChatGPT using your existing session. The extension runs on chatgpt.com and nowhere else. Storage Remembers the widget position, its collapsed state, whether the widget is shown, your theme, and the last usage percentages for the toolbar badge. PRIVACY There is no analytics, no tracking and no server of its own. Requests go only to chatgpt.com, using your existing session. The session token is kept in memory only and is never stored. Nothing is sent to the developer or to any third party. FAQ I installed it and I don't see the widget. Make sure you are signed in to chatgpt.com and reload the page. The widget appears only when ChatGPT reports usage limits for your account. Does it count my chat messages? It shows what ChatGPT reports: your plan limits and the feature limits ChatGPT tracks for your account. ChatGPT does not publish a general message counter, so the extension does not invent one.
