ChatGPT → Google Drive Logger
Overview
Automatically save your ChatGPT conversations to Google Drive as Markdown.
ChatGPT → Google Drive Logger (by Altronis) Automatically back up your ChatGPT conversations into your own Google Drive. Every exchange is saved as a clean Markdown file inside a folder called “ChatGPT Logs”. ✨ Key features • Automatic logging of conversations in the background • One-click Google Drive connection using OAuth • Files saved as Markdown (.md) with clear formatting • Snapshots update live as you chat — no duplicates • Manual quick-save (Alt + Shift + S) • Works with both chatgpt.com and chat.openai.com 🔒 Privacy & Security • No data ever leaves your browser except to your own Google Drive • Altronis does not collect, transmit, or store any user data • Uses minimal Drive scopes (`drive.file` and `drive.appdata`) • You retain full control: revoke access or uninstall any time ⚙️ Configuration 1. After installing, click the extension icon → **Connect Google Drive**. 2. A Google sign-in prompt will appear. Choose the account you want to link. 3. Approve the Drive access request — this only lets the extension create and update files in your Drive. 4. The extension will create a folder called **ChatGPT Logs** in your Google Drive. 5. Open ChatGPT in your browser and start chatting — logs will begin saving automatically. 6. To test at any time, press **Alt + Shift + S** to trigger a manual snapshot. 📌 Google Cloud setup (for advanced users / administrators) If you are deploying in an organisation or want to supply your own OAuth credentials, follow these steps: 1. Go to [Google Cloud Console](https://console.cloud.google.com/) and sign in. 2. Create or select a project. 3. Enable the **Google Drive API** from the API Library. 4. Navigate to **APIs & Services → Credentials → Create Credentials → OAuth client ID**. 5. Choose **Chrome App** if you are publishing under your own extension ID. If unavailable, use **Web Application**. 6. For Web Application clients, you must add this redirect URI: `https://<YOUR_EXTENSION_ID>.chromiumapp.org/oauth2` (the extension options page will show you the exact URI — copy/paste it without modification). 7. Save and copy the generated **Client ID** (and Client Secret if provided). 8. In the extension options page, paste the Client ID (and optionally Client Secret). 9. Click **Save** then **Sign in to Google**. A test file will be created in Drive to confirm success. 📌 Notes • If you want to reset or disconnect, use the options page (right-click extension → Options). • All files are plain text Markdown, so you can open them in Google Docs, VS Code, Notion, or any text editor. • If you remove the extension, your saved files remain safely in your Drive. ⚡ Why use it? Keep your ideas, research, and creative work safe. Search across past conversations in Google Drive. Collaborate easily by sharing files with colleagues or friends. --- Altronis builds practical agentic tools for real work.
