Overview

Export Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini chats to Markdown, PDF, JSON or ZIP. Pick exactly which parts.

ChatExport: Claude, ChatGPT & Gemini ChatExport adds an Export chat button to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini. Press it and you get a picker showing every part of the conversation - not just the messages, but your prompts, uploaded files and images, the model's thinking, tool calls and their results, individual code blocks, artifacts and canvas documents, and the replies themselves. Tick what you want and leave the rest. ONE EXTENSION, THREE CHAT TOOLS Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini, from a single install. Nothing to configure and nothing to switch between. SELECTION THAT GOES BELOW THE MESSAGE Most exporters let you choose which messages to keep. ChatExport goes a level further, and selection works at four levels: the whole conversation, one exchange, one message, or a single part inside it. That means you can keep the code a reply produced and drop the reasoning that led to it. Or take the artifact without the commentary. Or lift one answer out of a hundred-message thread. Group toggles across the whole conversation - Prompt, Files and images, Thinking and tools, Response - make the common cases one click, and a filter box narrows a long thread by text. WHAT IT EXPORTS - Markdown, plain text, or JSON — saved, or copied to the clipboard - PDF, through your browser's own print dialog, with images embedded - ZIP of just the files — images, attachments, and artifact or canvas documents written out under their own filenames, ready to open Headings, numbering, message separators, timestamps, how thinking and tool output are marked up, and whether artifacts come through as source or as rendered output, are all switches in the footer. COMPLETE, NOT WHAT THE PAGE HAPPENS TO SHOW An artifact is only a title card in the page itself, and a long conversation unloads its older messages as you scroll, so anything that reads the page alone quietly gives you less than you asked for. ChatExport reads the conversation from the same endpoint the site's own interface uses, signed in as you. Artifact and canvas bodies, full thinking and tool arguments all come through, and nothing is lost to scrolling. Where no transcript is available it falls back to reading the page, opening panels as it goes — and it says so in the header rather than pretending otherwise. NO ACCOUNT, NO QUOTA, NO SERVER Every format is produced inside your browser, PDF included: it goes through Chrome's own print engine rather than being uploaded somewhere to be rendered. There is no sign-in, no daily limit, no monthly allowance and no paid tier. PRIVACY ChatExport requests no permissions at all — no storage, no downloads, no tabs, no background worker. The only access it has is to the four chat sites it supports, because reading the conversation is the entire job. It collects nothing, stores nothing and transmits nothing. Requests go only to the site you are already signed in to. Exports are saved straight to your computer. There is no analytics, no telemetry and no third-party code. WHO IT IS FOR - Developers keeping the transcript of a debugging session next to the code - Researchers archiving findings somewhere they can grep - Writers quoting a conversation cleanly instead of screenshotting it - Anyone who wants a copy of an important chat that does not depend on an account continuing to exist HOW TO USE IT 1. Open a conversation on Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini. 2. Click Export chat, bottom right. 3. Tick the parts you want, choose a format, and save. OPEN SOURCE Free and open source under AGPL-3.0-or-later.
