# Chat Utilities ## About Chat Utilities Chat Utilities is an extension that adds several tweaks to Codychat Software, supporting Chat Avenue as well as 321Chat. These tweaks enable users to hide messages from guests, low-effort posts, and repeated "copy-paste" spam, as well as change certain aesthetics on the site they are on. Additional tweaks for moderators allow them to quickly action users and relay appropriate evidence. Chat Utilities is excellent when you love going to a specific chat room, but moderators aren't online, as Chat Utilities can hide any harmful content you don't want to see, as well as prevent targeted harassment and predator tactics when these methods can be detected. Many settings are useful for altering chat regularly, especially when guest accounts are available, and guest users have to tolerate "reset" ignores, themes, and other settings. This is even more helpful to users of chat sites that regularly reset certain settings, like ignores. Persistence is a feature in Chat Utilities already, allowing users to automatically disable main-chat notifications. More similar features are planned. ## About Us We are a small team of developers who write code that we believe helps people. This code is usually free and open source, and we never include intrusive advertisements. We keep data collection to a bare minimum, and we defend your right to privacy, like little ninjas on Twitter. We make our profit off of donations, which are used to pay our staff, server hosting costs, and bills from subscriptions required to run the company. We are a registered Indiana Limited Liability Company. We are **not** Nonprofit, but we do see ourselves as "Not For Profit" in the respect that we do not aim to have controlling shareholders. All investments are treated as donations and may not have any limitations or stipulations. If you are not a fan of our donation system and would prefer something more tangible, we would absolutely love it if you could purchase items from [shop.eridius.org](https://shop.eridius.org) - we have mugs, pins, and shirts there with fun characters made by members of Eridius. ### Our Team Our Primary Team Lead is "Eri", who is commonly known as "TheEridianNinja". They primarily write code for Eridius and help manage all the teams that make up Eridius. Graphics are done by "Seraph", our Design Team Lead, as well as "Soap". Marketing and Media are handled by "Shelter", which also dabbles in Design. Articles on our socials and site are written by "Drift", as well as "Northlight". "Artorias" handles major code changes. ### Backstory Eri, our Primary Team Lead, has used Codychat-based websites for over 6 years. They have been a moderator on both Chat-Avenue's Boys Chat and Gay Chat. With these experiences, they formed a few tools to help moderator teams be more effective, as well as tools to help casual users avoid most of the "noise" that comes from trolls and predators. After the success of both extensions, a lot of feedback, and even more hype, Eri wrote and directed the development of Chat Utilities, the spiritual successor to both Mod Utils and Codychat Anti-Guest. ### Cooperation Eridius works in-hand with chat room administrators and moderators to help crack down on emerging threats, such as malicious spammers and predators. This collaboration allows us to properly analyze abusive material and better equip moderators who care about their users with the tools needed to quickly and efficiently crack down on bad actors. We will see you there! ## Updates & Support Updates to Chat Utilities are expected for the long term. If you discover a bug, please email us at [support@eridi.us](mailto:support@eridi.us) with a description of the bug. In most cases, our developers contact users via support regularly. Our support is 100% AI-Free. Please do not message us on social media, as most of our socials are not directly managed. Our Twitter account, however, is usually managed live, if you insist on using socials. ## We are a small team We are a very small team trying to brainstorm and implement functions regularly - please contact [support@eridi.us](mailto:support@eridi.us) with any ideas, bug reports, or any other inquiries, including privacy rights or data removal requests. Please don't mind potentially long wait times; our primary developers are usually inquired for all support requests to ensure factual information is given to users. ## Privacy We respect your fundamental right to privacy. Chat Utilities does not transmit any data over the internet without explicit opt-in, which will inform you of all types of data collected, how they are stored, and where. By default, all Chat Utilities functions are completely free to use forever, and do not require an internet connection to function (however, we will wonder how you loaded the chat site without internet access!) ## Intelligence Features In the future, Intelligence features will be added, which will use advanced detection (zero AI - ever) and will check messages for primarily illegal or unethical content. These messages are always removed, and most are removed before you see them. These features will log content according to our Privacy Policy, and the data within the chat logs may be kept indefinitely to comply with legal requirements. Intelligence features require the internet, as well as a connection to our servers, and they will display a pop-up when enabled, which will inform you briefly about the privacy implications of Intelligence features. These logs are never sent over the internet if Intelligence features are disabled. Eridius reports illegal content when such data is collected. At this time, "Intelligence" features are in Canary and are not publicly available. As such, data collection is limited to zero. This will change soon, check our website and socials to learn more about Intelligence features. ### Eridius Black Some Intelligence features may require a subscription to Eridius Black, as we have to run and manage the servers that are processing every single message. The subscription is for all chat rooms and will apply to all Eridius products. Rest assured that we will never serve you ads via Chat Utilities, and all features made free are always free - we will never paywall features after they've been released. ------- New in 1.0.2: - Fixed numerous bugs involving Quick Action in Reports and in Main - Fixed a few bugs where actions wouldn't send over the network - There is now an improved loading/unloading system for Chat Utils, this will be improved in new versions to help slim down feature loads. Recognized Bugs: - Under some circumstances, older messages won't load after the chat is cleared on settings change or page load. This usually takes a few seconds before loading.
