Chat Highlight
Overview
Highlight Twitch chat messages and display them on your stream as a Browser Source.
Chrome extension that lets streamers highlight Twitch chat messages and display them as an animated overlay in OBS. Click the ✨ button next to any chat message to send it to your OBS browser source, complete with the user's name, color, and 7TV/BTTV/FFZ emotes. Simplicity: I made this with streamers in mind so the process to use this extension is incredibly simple. 1. Enable WebSocket in OBS: Tools → WebSocket Server Settings. 2. In the Twitch Extension, set OBS WEBSOCKET URL to ws://localhost:YOURSERVERPORT (default is 4455) and PASSWORD to your OBS WebSocket Server password. Then click Apply → OK. 3. Create a new Browser Source in OBS and name it TwitchHighlight. Must match exactly! 4. Add the URL https://slam505.github.io/twitch-chat-overlay/overlay.html to URL section of the Browser Source. 5. Set size (I recommend 700W x 500H). Then click OK. 6. In the Twitch Extension, click Connect. The header dot should turn green. Go to Twitch and click ✨ on any chat message! Security: All data stays local between your browser and OBS (localhost connection). Chat content is sanitized to only allow text and emotes from trusted CDNs (7TV, BTTV, FFZ, Twitch). No external servers or data collection involved. Solo developed by @slam505 Twitch: @slam505_
