🔐 CHARITRA — Your Private Browsing History Vault Take control of your browsing history with CHARITRA, a Chrome extension that removes visits to selected websites from your Chrome history and securely preserves those visits in a password-protected, AES-256-GCM encrypted vault. Inspired by the iconic Windows Phone and Nokia Lumia Metro design, CHARITRA combines privacy-focused history management, powerful search tools, activity analytics, and a clean, customizable interface. 🛡️ HISTORY PROTECTION • Block selected domains from appearing in your Chrome browsing history. • Automatically remove visits to protected domains shortly after navigation. • Periodically scan and clear recent browsing history for protected domains. • Support single-page applications that navigate without full page reloads. • Configure a daily time window during which history protection is active. • Run a manual history cleanup whenever needed. 🔒 ENCRYPTED PRIVATE VAULT • Store captured URLs, page titles, domains, and timestamps in an encrypted vault. • Use AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption to protect vault data. • Derive password-based keys using PBKDF2-SHA256 with 310,000 iterations. • Keep your vault password out of persistent storage. • Configure automatic locking, inactivity timeouts, and session security preferences. 🔎 SEARCH AND ORGANIZATION • Search captured visits by page title, URL, or domain. • Filter entries by date range, today, or this week. • Sort entries by column and navigate through paginated results. 🌐 DOMAIN MANAGEMENT • Add domains individually or paste URLs. • Bulk-import multiple domains using a list. • Search and filter your protected-domain list. • Remove individual domains or clear the entire list. 📊 ACTIVITY ANALYTICS • View your most frequently visited protected domains. • Explore a 12-month activity heatmap. • Examine hourly browsing activity patterns. 📤 DATA EXPORT • Export your vault entries and protected-domain list as JSON. • Confirm exports by re-entering your password. • Exported JSON files are unencrypted and should be stored securely. 🎨 PERSONALIZATION AND DESIGN • Choose Dark, Light, or System themes. • Customize the interface with eight accent colors inspired by the Nokia Lumia palette. • Experience a Windows Phone-inspired Metro interface with flat tiles and pivot navigation. • Access your vault through the extension popup or a dedicated full-page view. 🔑 PRIVACY AND SECURITY NOTES CHARITRA encrypts vault data locally using AES-256-GCM. It does not make your browsing activity invisible to websites, your internet service provider, your employer, or network administrators. It also cannot protect against a compromised operating system, keyloggers, screen recording, or network-level monitoring. If Chrome Sync synchronizes extension data, encrypted vault data may also be synchronized. ⚠️ Your vault password cannot be recovered. If you forget it, resetting the vault permanently erases its existing data. 🔐 CHARITRA gives you greater control over your browsing history while keeping your private visits in an encrypted vault.
