Overview
Live character countdown with the right limit for whichever social network you post to, plus a one-click splitter for long posts.
Never get cut off mid-post again. Character Counter gives you an accurate, live countdown for every social platform you actually use — and it counts the way each platform really counts, not the way a generic word counter guesses. PICK YOUR LIMIT Presets are built in for the major social networks, covering everything from a short post through to a long caption or a video description. Pick the one you are writing for and the countdown adjusts. If your limit is not in the list, set your own. COUNTS THE WAY THE PLATFORM COUNTS • A link counts as a flat 23 characters, exactly like the real thing • Emoji count as one character, not two or four — including flags and family emoji • Japanese, Chinese and Korean characters count double where the platform doubles them • Live gauge turns amber as you approach the limit and red the moment you pass it FREE FOREVER The live counter, every platform preset, the custom limit, word and link counts, copy button, saved draft and both themes are completely free. No trial, no ads, no account. PREMIUM — £1.99, ONE OFF • Automatic Thread Splitter — turn a long piece of writing into perfectly sized posts in one click • Smart breakpoints — it never splits mid-word, mid-link or mid-sentence, and it respects your paragraphs • Automatic numbering — every post is tagged (1/7), (2/7) and so on, with the numbering counted against the limit so nothing overflows • Copy each post individually, or copy the whole thread at once One payment. No subscription, no account, no renewals. PRIVACY This extension cannot read the pages you visit. Your draft is stored locally so it survives closing the popup, and nothing you type is ever transmitted anywhere. The only network request it makes is a licence check to extensionpay.com when you open the popup, and that check carries none of your text. Payments are handled by Stripe; your card details are never seen or stored by this extension. WHO IT IS FOR Anyone who has ever had a great post rejected for being nine characters too long.
