TypeEN – Write in French, send in English

Type in French in any text field, press Alt+T: the text is replaced in place by its English translation.

TypeEN lets you write in your own language and send in English. Type your message in French in any text field on the web, then press Alt+T. The text is replaced, right where you typed it, by its English translation. There is nothing to copy, no window to open, no tab to switch to. What it does - Translates the text of the field you are typing in, in place, when you press the shortcut. - If part of the text is selected, only the selection is translated. - Ctrl+Z undoes the translation; the field keeps its normal editing history. - Line breaks are preserved. - Works in plain inputs, text areas and rich-text editors, including editors embedded in frames. Settings - Choose the source and target language from the popup (French to English by default; Spanish, German, Italian and Portuguese are also available), or swap them with one click. - A small test box in the popup lets you translate a sentence and copies the result to your clipboard. - The shortcut can be changed from Chrome's extension shortcuts page. Privacy TypeEN reads the text field you are focused on only when you press the shortcut. That text is sent to Google Translate to be translated, and nothing else. There is no account, no tracking, no analytics and no server of ours. Your language preference is saved in your Chrome sync storage. Free and open source.
