People have no idea what they are talking about here, this works perfectly fine for local files as well, you have to enable it in the plugin settings is all. Absolute game changer for eye strain while reading white papers. 5/5 easy.

It's working fine but we should be able to set the outside zone of the pdf in dark grey rather than white

I gave permission for the extension to access file URLs, and yet the local PDF I opened was not put into dark mode. I still give it one star in the rating because it's a great idea.
