Works with Canvas SpeedGrader. One click puts your own comment on every rubric criterion, the student's name on top, and the score.

Rubric Auto-Filler puts your own comment on every rubric criterion in Canvas SpeedGrader, with the student's first name at the top of the assignment comments, in one click. Rubric Auto-Filler is an independent tool. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Instructure. HOW IT WORKS 1. Grade one student the way you always do: scores, your comment on each criterion, your standard comment in the Assignment Comments box. Click "Set this as Default". 2. On every student after that, click "Fill rubric". With Fill with set to Default, every criterion gets the score and comment you saved, and your standard comment goes in the Assignment Comments box. With Fill with set to Top Score, every criterion gets its top score and the comment boxes are left alone. Either way, the student's first name goes at the top of the assignment comments. Switch the name off if you'd rather not. 3. You change what that student needs, then submit it yourself. Each assignment keeps its own Default, so you set one for each new assignment. Nothing is written to the page until you click Fill. NO RUBRIC ON THE ASSIGNMENT? Set this as Default saves the grade and your assignment comment instead, and Fill puts them back (Top Score puts in the top grade). Press Enter in the grade box to save the grade, the same as one you typed. WORKS IN BOTH KINDS OF RUBRIC Scale and Written Feedback (their official names), in the Traditional, Horizontal and Vertical views. It needs the Enhanced Rubrics feature in Canvas. On a school that hasn't switched yet, the panel can't see the rubric, so it works as it does on an assignment with no rubric. WHAT IT GIVES BACK Two timings, both from one professor's own assignments of 120 to 170 students. They're estimates, and your own numbers will probably come out different. • With a comment tool such as Annotate Pro supplying each comment: about 30 seconds a student, roughly a third of the rubric time. About half an hour to 1½ hours back on one assignment. • Copying comments from a document by hand: about 2 minutes a student, roughly two-thirds of the rubric time. About 4 to 7 hours back on one assignment. WHAT IT NEVER DOES • Never submits an assessment and never posts a grade. Submitting is yours, and so is the Enter that saves a grade. • Writes nothing until you click Fill. • Asks for no permissions beyond running on SpeedGrader pages at instructure.com addresses. WHAT'S INSIDE • No AI. It fills each rubric line with your own saved comment and score, or the top score, and it never submits a grade. • It can see the SpeedGrader page that's open. Nothing about your students comes to us or to anyone but your own Canvas. • Your Default stays in your browser. It reads a one-line notice from aibypeak.com when SpeedGrader opens and about once an hour, and it may ask your own Canvas for a student's first name, who is in a group, or how the assignment is graded. Once billing opens, your license key (with a device label) is checked with Lemon Squeezy when you paste it and about once a day after. • No account needed, no sign-in, no tracking. Drag it anywhere, or fold it away when you don't need it. • If an update stops Fill and we know, a line at the top of the panel says so. • If Fill stops working after an update, click "Copy diagnostic" and paste the result into an email to hello@aibypeak.com.
