## Wikipedia alongside Google Search GooWi adds a concise, contextually relevant Wikipedia companion beside Google Search results. It is designed to restore useful encyclopedic context without replacing Google or Wikipedia. ## Features - Relevant Wikipedia previews beside Google Search results - **View in GooWi** for selected text and hyperlinks - Conservative relevance filtering that favors silence over misleading matches - Improved matching for aliases, redirects, formal names, and likely typos - Wikipedia disambiguation handling for genuinely ambiguous searches - Wikipedia hatnotes and clarification links - Representative images through Wikipedia's PageImages API - Internal Wikipedia navigation without changing the underlying Google query - Session-local **History** and **Back** navigation - **Return** to the article associated with the original Google search or lookup - Random Article - Expand/restore reading mode - Wikirace with full supported article navigation, a 10-click initial challenge, and optional overtime - Responsive desktop and half-screen layouts - Light and dark appearance support - Direct support link to Wikimedia ## Link handling Wikipedia links inside GooWi can be opened directly within the GooWi pane while retaining topic-specific Google Search destinations for new-tab and modifier-click behavior. **View in GooWi** can also resolve ordinary webpage links using human-readable link text, semantic headings, readable URL slugs, and other conservative fallbacks when needed. ## Wikipedia remains the destination Normal GooWi mode deliberately presents a condensed preview. Readers who want the complete article are directed to Wikipedia. Wikirace is the exception because gameplay requires access to the full supported article and its internal links. ## Privacy GooWi has no analytics, advertising, telemetry, user accounts, persistent identifiers, or developer-operated backend service. To provide its features, GooWi sends the current Google search term—or text explicitly selected or invoked by the user through **View in GooWi**—directly to the relevant Wikipedia language edition so Wikipedia can return matching encyclopedia content. The developer does not receive or retain users' search terms, selected text, link lookups, or GooWi article history. History and Back navigation are session-local and are not stored as persistent browsing history.
