Point at what is wrong on a running page and produce a handoff a coding agent can act on.

VisualEdit turns a defect you can see into a brief a coding agent can act on. Open your app, click the toolbar icon, and point at what is wrong. Hover to pick an element, click it, and type what should change. If you already know the value, set it in the composer: the running page shows it straight away, so your note carries "padding-left: 12px → 16px" instead of "this is too tight". Nothing is written to your site, and the preview comes off again as soon as the composer closes. Finish review then writes a folder into your Downloads directory, holding one handoff.md and one screenshot per anchored note. Give that folder to Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or any agent that reads files. The instructions travel inside the artifact, so there is nothing else to prompt with, and the receiving session is told to report whatever it cannot locate confidently rather than editing a file it is unsure about. Notes survive a reload, and each URL keeps its own set, so a long pass can be interrupted and picked up again. WHO IT IS FOR Developers and designers reviewing an app they are building: a local dev server, a preview deploy, a staging host. One reviewer, one pass, one folder. No account, no sign-in, no shared workspace, no telemetry. WHAT IS RECORDED, AND WHERE IT STAYS VisualEdit records what you comment on: the element’s HTML and computed styles, the page URL and title, and a screenshot of each commented element, taken when you click Finish review. It all stays on this computer, in this browser’s extension storage and in your Downloads folder. Nothing is uploaded, and the extension has no server to send it to. Those are the words the tool itself puts on screen, once, before your first pass, and you accept them before anything is read. While comment mode is off, nothing is recorded at all. WHERE IT RUNS On http://localhost and http://127.0.0.1 you can grant access once and the overlay returns after every reload, which is what a hot-reloading dev server needs. Everywhere else it runs for the page load you started it on: click the icon again afterwards and your earlier notes come straight back out of storage. The × on the pill switches it off for a site and keeps what you wrote. Browser-internal pages and the Web Store are out of reach for any extension at all, and the toolbar icon says why rather than going quiet.
