History Diff for Jira

Readable side-by-side and inline diffs for text edits in Jira issue history.

Jira's History tab shows a text edit as two full copies of the field, old and new, and leaves you to find the difference. History Diff for Jira replaces that with a proper diff, right where the entry is. What it does • Highlights exactly which words were added and removed • Side by side or inline layout • Formatted view renders Jira markup (bold, code, lists, headings, tables) with the changes still highlighted • Raw view folds long unchanged text and keeps a few lines of context around each edit • "Show original" brings back Jira's own view for any entry • Follows Jira's light and dark theme, and remembers your layout choice It only touches long text changes such as Description, Summary and custom text fields like Testing Instructions. Status, assignee, sprint and other short fields stay as Jira shows them. Privacy Everything runs locally in your browser. The extension reads the history text that is already on the page. It makes no network requests, collects no data and has no analytics. Works on Jira Cloud sites (*.atlassian.net). Jira is a trademark of Atlassian.
