Customize Hotstar captions with presets, live previews, saved styles, playback speed, and keyboard shortcuts.

Make Hotstar subtitles easier to read with Subtitle Studio, the redesigned update to Hotstar Subtitle Customizer. Choose Cinema, Clarity, Golden or Minimal to get started, then fine-tune your captions with a scene preview. Adjust font size, typeface, weight, color, spacing, line height, shadow, outline and letter case. Customize the background, opacity, padding, rounded corners, alignment, width and height above the bottom of the player. Your settings save automatically and stay available across Hotstar tabs and new videos. A master toggle lets you switch back to the original player styling. Playback tools include remembered speeds from 0.5x to 2x, 10-second rewind and forward controls, and picture-in-picture where your browser and the player support it. Optional Alt + Shift keyboard shortcuts let you seek or toggle Studio without interfering with typing fields. Export your settings to a JSON file, import them later, or reset to defaults. Saved preferences use Chrome sync storage. The extension does not collect account information or viewing history, and it includes no analytics or remote scripts. To use Studio, open Hotstar, start a video, enable subtitles in Audio & Subtitles, and open the extension. Caption layout controls work with HTML subtitles; native video captions use the player's layout. Subtitles embedded in the video image cannot be restyled. Subtitle Studio is an independent extension and is not affiliated with Hotstar or JioHotstar.
