Stream to mpv

One-click 'Open in mpv' button directly on HTML5 video players with automatic HLS/MP4 stream detection.

Stream to mpv adds a "▶ mpv" button to the controls of web video players. Click it, choose a resolution, and the video opens in mpv, the lightweight open-source media player. It is not a downloader: the stream plays live in mpv. FEATURES - Detects real video streams on the page: HLS (.m3u8), MP4, WebM and YouTube - Resolution menu: 4K, 1440p, 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p, Best, or Audio Only - Passes the Referer and User-Agent headers that some video servers require - Pauses the browser video when mpv opens REQUIRED SETUP (Linux & macOS) Browsers cannot start other programs directly, so a small helper script has to be installed once. Windows is not supported yet. 1. Install mpv (required) and yt-dlp (needed for YouTube): - Linux: sudo pacman -S mpv yt-dlp (or: sudo apt install mpv yt-dlp) - macOS: brew install mpv yt-dlp 2. Install the helper: - git clone https://github.com/TalhaAksoy/stream-to-mpv.git - cd stream-to-mpv - make 3. Restart the browser, open any video page, and click "▶ mpv". ANDROID Chrome for Android does not support extensions. On Chromium-based Android browsers that do (e.g. Lemur, Mises), install mpv-android (is.xyz.mpv) and tap "▶ mpv". No helper is needed there. TIPS - Many embed players load the real stream only after you press Play. Press Play once, then click "▶ mpv". - DRM-protected services (Netflix, Disney+, Spotify, etc.) cannot be played in mpv.
