Overview

Switch proxies in one click, route each site by rules, fail over to a backup proxy. No telemetry; no account needed.

ProxyJam Connector is a proxy manager for Chrome. It keeps all your proxies in one place, switches between them in one click, routes each site through the proxy you choose, and tells you plainly when a proxy stops working. It needs no account, sends no telemetry, and makes no network request until you switch on a feature that needs one. It works with proxies from any provider, and with your own. If you also buy proxies from ProxyJam, an optional tab lets you buy, connect and manage them without leaving the extension. ONE-CLICK SWITCHING The toolbar popup lists every mode: Direct (no proxy), Auto (rules), your system proxy, and each of your saved profiles. Click one and it applies to the whole browser at once. • A route strip at the top of the popup shows where your traffic goes right now: straight to the internet, through one proxy, or split by rules. • The toolbar badge shows the state without opening anything: no badge when the proxy is off, green ON for a single proxy, blue AUTO for rule-based routing, red ! when applying the proxy failed, orange AUTH when a proxy rejected its credentials. • Your choice survives a browser restart and disabling and re-enabling the extension. PROXY PROFILES • Schemes: HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4, SOCKS5 and QUIC. • Each profile stores host, port, username and password, notes, a color tag, a favorite star, a remote-DNS option, and an optional failover proxy. • Search by name, filter by scheme, sort by manual order, name, newest or recently updated, and duplicate a profile to make a variant. • No limit on the number of profiles. • Passwords are never shown back in the interface. Leaving the password field blank while editing keeps the saved one. • The form validates host and port before saving and warns inline about browser limits (see Honest limitations below). AUTO-SWITCH RULES Route different sites through different proxies automatically, with no clicking. • Nine condition types: exact domain, domain with subdomains, host wildcard (*.example.com), URL wildcard, regular expression, exact URL, URL prefix, URL suffix, and URL contains. • Each rule sends matching traffic to a profile or to Direct. • First match wins, top to bottom, and you reorder rules with up and down buttons. A fallback decides what happens when no rule matches, so the result is always predictable. • Rules are edited as a draft and applied with Save changes, so a half-written rule never routes live traffic. • Regular expressions are checked before they are saved, so a broken or runaway pattern is refused instead of slowing the browser down. • On Chrome the rules are compiled into a PAC script on your device and run by the browser's own PAC engine. No remote code is involved. RULE SETS Group rules into named sets and turn a whole set on or off with one switch. A disabled set is removed from routing but kept, so moving between a work setup and a personal one takes a click and deletes nothing. HEALTH CHECKS AND FAILOVER • Optionally probe the active proxy every 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes, or run a check on demand. • Pick a failover proxy for each profile. When a check finds the active proxy unreachable, ProxyJam Connector switches to the failover you chose and says so in the popup: "Health check failed — switched from A to B." • It never switches silently, and it never picks a replacement you did not nominate. • The last result and its time are shown in Settings. • Off by default. PROXY CHECKER Answers "is this proxy actually working, and what does the internet see?" • External IP: the address websites see through the active proxy. • Latency: how long a request through the proxy takes. Measuring an inactive profile routes traffic through it for a moment and then restores your previous mode. • Geo / ASN: the country and network that IP belongs to. • WebRTC leak test: whether WebRTC exposes addresses outside the proxy. • Check one profile or all of them. • Every check is off by default, because every check makes a network request. Each one names the exact host it contacts before you turn it on. DIALOG-FREE PROXY AUTHENTICATION When an HTTP or HTTPS proxy asks for a username and password, ProxyJam Connector answers it directly with the credentials saved in the profile. The browser's login box does not interrupt you on every new connection. If the proxy keeps rejecting them, the extension stops retrying and the badge turns orange AUTH, instead of looping. BYPASS LIST • Localhost, 127.0.0.0/8, ::1 and private IPv4 and IPv6 ranges always go direct. • Add your own entries, one per line: hostnames, host wildcards (*.internal), IPv4 CIDR ranges, or IPv6 addresses. • The bypass list applies in every mode, including rule-based routing. IMPORT AND EXPORT • Import from a file or by pasting text. Auto-detect recognizes ProxyJam files, the backup files of other popular proxy extensions, plain host:port lists, and CSV. • Profiles, bypass entries and auto-switch rules are all imported. • A detailed report lists what was imported, what was skipped as invalid and why, and what was rejected as a duplicate. Malformed input never disappears silently. • Export to ProxyJam JSON, plain text or CSV. • Exports leave passwords out unless you tick Include passwords. • Optionally encrypt the export with a password: AES-256-GCM with a PBKDF2-SHA-256 key, done entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded. PROXYJAM ACCOUNT (OPTIONAL) The ProxyJam tab connects the extension to a ProxyJam account. It is the only part of the extension that talks to a server, and it sends nothing until you sign in. • Sign in with email and password, or paste an API key created at app.proxyjam.com. • Store: browse the catalogue by country and proxy type, see prices, pick a plan and quantity, apply a promo code, and buy. Pay from your ProxyJam wallet balance, or through the payment methods enabled on your account, which open the payment page in a new tab. The extension never sees card or bank details. • Connect in one click: a bought proxy becomes an ordinary profile, so rules, the checker, health checks, failover and the popup all work with it. • My proxies: each proxy shows its address, scheme, expiry date and traffic used. • Manage a proxy without leaving the browser: extend it, buy more bandwidth, turn auto-renew on or off, edit the list of allowed IP addresses, and refresh it from the provider. • Mobile proxies add: rotate the exit IP, device signature, tags, and releasing the port. • Copy credentials: the password is fetched on an explicit click, shown only in that dialog, cleared after 30 seconds, and never stored by the extension. • Wallet: balance and recent transactions. Topping up happens on the website. • Expiry reminders: the popup marks a proxy expiring within three days, and offers to open the ProxyJam tab to renew it. • While you are signed in and have at least one bought proxy, the list refreshes once an hour so expiry and traffic stay current. Signing out stops it, and you choose whether bought proxies stay as ordinary profiles or are removed from the browser. • Requests to api.proxyjam.com bypass the active proxy by default, so a proxy that has stopped working cannot lock you out of the account you would use to replace it. A setting turns this off. SETTINGS • Light, dark or system theme. • Debug logging to the browser console. Off by default; passwords are never logged. • The network checks and the bypass list described above, each with a plain explanation of what it does. PRIVACY • No cloud sync, no telemetry, no analytics, no advertising, no license server. • Free. Every feature works from the moment you install it; there is nothing to unlock. • Profiles, rules and settings live in the browser's local extension storage and leave your device only when you export them yourself. • Proxy passwords are redacted from every log, never passed to the extension's own interface, and excluded from exports by default. • No content scripts: the extension does not read, change or inject anything into the pages you visit. ProxyJam Connector makes no network request unless you switch on one of the optional checks or sign in on the ProxyJam tab. The full list of destinations: • External IP check: api.ipify.org. • Geo / ASN lookup: sends only that IP to ipwho.is. • WebRTC leak test: Google's public STUN server, stun.l.google.com. • Health check: repeats the api.ipify.org request on the interval you set. It adds no new host. • ProxyJam tab: api.proxyjam.com, silent until you sign in. Each check is off until you turn it on, and each also needs a separate permission you grant. Full policy: https://proxyjam.com/extension-privacy-policy The extension is separate from the ProxyJam proxy service. Installing it creates no account and signs you in to nothing. The privacy policy above covers the extension; the service has its own. PERMISSIONS • proxy: sets the browser's proxy configuration. This is the extension's whole job. • storage: keeps profiles, rules and settings on your device. • webRequest and webRequestAuthProvider: answer proxy authentication requests without a dialog. • alarms: schedules the optional health check and the hourly order refresh. Unused while both are off. Access to all sites is optional and is not requested at install. It is asked for only when you use an authenticated HTTP or HTTPS proxy or turn on the network checks, and the extension works without it. Access to api.proxyjam.com is a separate optional permission, asked for when you sign in on the ProxyJam tab and never before, so signing in does not cost you access to every website. HONEST LIMITATIONS These are browser constraints, not bugs. The extension shows each one inline where it applies instead of pretending otherwise. • SOCKS5 username and password do not work in Chrome: its proxy API cannot pass them (Chromium issue 256785). Use an IP allowlist on the proxy instead. • Chrome always resolves DNS through a SOCKS5 proxy, so the remote-DNS option has no effect there. • For HTTPS sites, Chrome shows the rules only the hostname, not the path. Host-based conditions work fully; URL and path conditions apply in full only to plain HTTP. • Latency and IP can only be measured for the active proxy. Inactive profiles show "n/a" until you switch to them or measure them, instead of an invented number. • The DNS-leak test reports "unavailable": detecting a DNS leak needs an external DNS-reflection service, and we run no servers of our own. • Per-container proxies need Firefox's containers API, so that feature is not in the Chrome and Edge version. WHO IT IS FOR Developers and QA engineers testing geo-specific behavior or switching between staging environments; researchers and marketers working across regions; privacy-conscious users running their own proxies; and anyone moving from an older proxy extension who wants a maintained Manifest V3 one, with their existing backup importable as is.
