Overview

Finds the video playing on a page and sends the original stream to your TV. Works with Chromecast and Apple TV.

Castmate sends the video you're watching to your TV: the video itself, not your screen. Most "cast tab" tools mirror the whole browser tab. That means lag, lower quality and a laptop that has to keep working the whole time. Castmate finds the actual video stream a page is playing and hands it to your TV, which then plays it on its own, in the original quality. HOW IT WORKS 1. Open a page with a video and start playing it. 2. Click Castmate. You'll see each video on the page by name, with its thumbnail, length and quality. 3. Press Cast and pick your TV. You can close the laptop lid while it plays. WHAT YOU GET • Finds HLS (.m3u8), DASH (.mpd) and MP4 streams, including ones a player hides behind a blob address • Shows the real title, thumbnail, resolution, frame rate, codec and size of each video • Casts to Chromecast, Google TV and TVs with Google Cast built in • Sends to Apple TV with AirPlay from Safari on a Mac • Play, pause, seek and stop from the cast page • Tells you when a video is DRM-protected, so you're not left guessing PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account, no analytics, no ads. The list of videos stays in your browser and is cleared when you close the tab. GOOD TO KNOW • Castmate is for video you're allowed to watch. It doesn't download video, and it doesn't get around DRM, paywalls or logins. • DRM-protected streams (most paid streaming services) can't be cast this way. Use the service's own app or Cast button. • Some sites only serve their video to their own pages. Those may not play on the TV. • Your computer and TV need to be on the same network. Chromecast and Google Cast are trademarks of Google LLC. Apple TV and AirPlay are trademarks of Apple Inc. Castmate is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google or Apple.
