On the branch is a false cashew fruit (also known as cashew apple) that is orange-red, juicy, oval or pear-shaped. This is actually the enlarged stem of the fruit. Below the false fruit is the real cashew nut (gray-green, crescent-shaped) that is tightly attached. The leaves of the cashew tree are large, thick, oval, with prominent veins. The tree is usually 6-10m tall, with a wide canopy. After processing, cashew nuts are edible, rich in nutrients, used as food and for export. The false cashew fruit is edible, has a sweet and sour taste, and is often used to make wine, jam, and juice. The cashew shell has industrial oil (cashew shell oil - CNSL) used in technology, but can cause skin burns if in direct contact.
