Overview
Check a used car listing before you buy: real running costs, known faults and what to inspect.
Found a used car you like? CarFitMe shows what it will cost to own and what to check before you pay - without leaving the listing. Open a car listing. A CarFitMe card with the car's name appears in the top right corner. Click it, and in about a minute your report opens in a new tab. WHAT'S IN THE REPORT - Monthly and yearly running costs: fuel, scheduled servicing, a reserve for likely repairs, compulsory insurance (an estimate based on your profile), roadworthiness inspection and tyres. - The true cost of ownership over 1, 3 or 5 years: purchase price plus running costs, minus what you can expect to get back when you sell. - Faults typical of this exact version, the mileage range where they usually appear, and indicative repair costs - based on the model, year, engine, gearbox and mileage in the listing. - An inspection plan: questions for the seller, what to check yourself, and a list of jobs for the garage. - A verdict: good choice, worth negotiating, must be inspected, or better avoided. WHO IT'S FOR People buying a car in Lithuania, including those importing one from Germany or another EU country. Insurance and inspection are calculated at Lithuanian prices. WHAT IT DOESN'T DO It is not a VIN history report: it doesn't tell you what happened to the car before, it shows what the car is likely to cost from here on. The figures are estimates based on the listing, not a guarantee, and they don't replace a physical inspection. The more complete the listing, the more accurate the report. YOUR DATA Nothing is sent while you browse. Only when you click does CarFitMe send the car details it read from the listing (make, model, year, engine, mileage, price and so on) - never the whole page, and never your login, messages or saved searches. Chrome will warn that the extension can "read and change your data" on these sites: that is how it reads the listing and shows the card. Free to install. Works in Chrome on desktop.
