Overview

Ranks every credit card in your wallet by the real dollars it earns at the store you are on, and keeps your bank offers together.

Cardful tells you which of your credit cards earns the most on the purchase you are about to make. Click the toolbar icon on a shopping site and it names the store, the category it codes as, and the best card in your wallet for it — with what each of your other cards would earn, so you can see the gap. At checkout, an overlay appears on the page with the same answer, so you do not have to leave the payment form to check. This is why the extension runs on all sites: there is no list of "checkout pages" to match against, and the small independent stores where this is most useful are exactly the ones no hand-written list would contain. It also keeps the offers your banks publish on your cards in one place. Open your bank's own offers page — American Express, Chase, Citi or Capital One — and click the Cardful icon in your toolbar. It reads the offers listed on that page into a vault on your machine, so each one turns up beside the recommendation at the store it applies to, months later, when you would otherwise have forgotten it was there. Capital One's in-store offers are read and never activated: which three to activate is yours to choose, and Cardful reminds you to do it in Capital One Offers before you pay. Some offers only ever arrive by email, and those are never on the page for a scan to find. Paste one into Cardful instead and it reads the value, the minimum spend and the expiry out of your bank's own wording — and tells you which of the three it could not read before it saves anything, rather than leaving you to find out that a date was missing in the week the offer stops working. Nothing is connected to do that, and there is no account at your bank to set up. Clicking the toolbar icon is what grants access, to that one tab, and it lapses the moment the tab goes anywhere else. Cardful never holds a banking credential, never signs in on your behalf, and reaches no third-party aggregator. The answer is always free: ranking, every store, the checkout overlay, as many cards as you like, rotating categories, the printable cheat sheet, your own point valuations, and typing in an offer that only ever arrived by email. Cardful Pro is the labour-saving half — reading your bank's offers page into the vault and pressing its own "Add to card" on every offer in one pass instead of you clicking through forty, the searchable offer dashboard on cardful.xyz, a reminder before one expires, and your offers on your other devices. Pro is free for 30 days, then $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year. When a trial ends the offers you have already collected keep appearing in the popup and at checkout: that half never needed Pro. Your card list is stored on your own machine. With sync switched off — which is the default — the only request the extension makes is a once-a-day download of one public file of shopping-portal rates from cardful.xyz, the same file for everyone, and it never reads what you type into a payment field. Signing in to sync stores your cards and bank offers under your account, which no other account can read, so they appear on cardful.xyz and in your other browsers. With sync on, each scan of a bank's offers page also sends an outline of how that page is built, with every store, amount, date and number blanked out, so the scanner keeps working when a bank redesigns its site; it is never sold or shared. See the privacy policy for exactly what the on-page script does and does not touch. Rates are checked against issuer sources monthly. Reward rates change and bonuses depend on how a purchase codes, so verify anything important with your issuer. The same rankings are free to read without installing anything at cardful.xyz/guides — the best credit card for groceries, dining, gas, travel and every other kind of spending that has a card worth choosing for it, every card's rates and annual fee, and what each rewards currency is worth.
