Carbon footprint calculations use EIO (Environmentally-Extended Input-Output) analysis. EIO models the entire economy as a web of industries — each one buying from others — and traces emissions through every link in the chain. This gives you a credible, full lifecycle footprint estimate even without access to factory data or supplier lists. Climate impact calculations use the Social Cost of Carbon (SC-CO₂), the same metric used by the U.S. federal government and international bodies to evaluate the economic damage caused by each additional ton of CO₂. It aggregates projected costs across agriculture, human health, property damage, energy systems, and ecosystem disruption over the lifetime of those emissions. The result is a single dollar figure that represents the real long-term harm of your carbon footprint — making the invisible consequences of emissions concrete and comparable.
