Analyze any product, service, or activity Click the CarbonGuru button on any product page or shopping cart. The extension reads the page and sends it to our servers for analysis. It also works with Gmail purchase receipts and pasted text — anything that describes goods, services, or business activities. 2. Get a full lifecycle estimate CarbonGuru uses AI to identify what you purchased, then applies established environmental science (EIO — Environmentally-Extended Input-Output analysis) to calculate the carbon footprint across the full product lifecycle: raw materials, manufacturing, packaging, shipping, and delivery to you. Results represent the cumulative footprint up to the point the item is in your hands, reported in kg CO₂e — the standard unit for comparing climate impact. 3. EIO models the entire economy as a web of industries — each one buying from others — and traces emissions through every link in the chain. This gives you a credible, full lifecycle footprint estimate even without access to factory data or supplier lists. AI handles the messy part: reading product titles, receipt text, and web pages to figure out exactly what you bought and map it to the right category. The science handles the rest. WHAT WE COLLECT The extension only sends data when you click the CarbonGuru button — it does not passively monitor your browsing. We collect the page content and URL of the product or cart you're analyzing, plus your account email. We do not store full page content after analysis.
