Carbon AI Hub estimates the carbon, energy and water footprint of supported AI web chats and shows the totals in your private dashboard. It's free to use, with no trial and no subscription. WHAT YOU GET • Estimated carbon (gCO₂e), energy (Wh) and water (ml) from your browser AI chats • Daily trends, a breakdown by AI tool, and downloadable CSV reports • Practical tips for prompting more efficiently Estimates use token counts and model-tier factors, not direct measurements of a provider's electricity or water. AI energy use varies by model and workload. Website changes, hidden model names and automatic routing can affect coverage and accuracy. PRIVACY Prompt and response text is processed temporarily on your device to count characters. It is never sent to your dashboard or saved in extension storage. The extension sends only token counts, the model or site name and the site domain, authenticated with your own API key. HOW TO START 1. Install the extension and sign in at https://carbonai.scopelocal.co.uk 2. In Settings, generate a key and copy the connection code 3. Click the extension icon, choose Open setup page, paste the code and click Connect 4. Reload any AI tabs that were already open Works on supported AI chat websites only. It can't monitor desktop apps, every website, or image and video generation. For API usage, you can connect OpenAI or Anthropic organisation accounts separately in the dashboard. Free to use.
