Capyture
Overview
A calm capybara of a tab recorder: MP4 output, meeting archive, Drive upload, low memory.
Capyture records any browser tab with a focus on stability, light weight, and files you can actually use. WHY CAPYTURE - MP4 by default (H.264 + AAC): open your recordings directly in Premiere, After Effects, or share them on WhatsApp. WebM, VP9, HEVC and AV1 are available as options. - Flat memory: video streams to disk while recording, so multi-hour sessions work fine on modest machines. - Crash-safe: if the tab closes, the recording stops and saves automatically. If the browser crashes, a rescue banner restores your unsaved recording on next launch. - Live volume meters for tab audio and microphone before and during recording, so you never end a one-hour meeting with a silent file. A warning appears if both audio sources are off. - Three microphone modes (Meeting / Natural / Raw 48 kHz stereo) with instant preview. - Pause and resume, countdown, keyboard shortcuts, recording timer on the toolbar badge. MEETINGS (OPTIONAL, OFF BY DEFAULT) - Reminder notification when you enter Google Meet, Zoom, Teams and others (configurable). - Auto-archive recordings into per-project folders, with optional metadata JSON for AI workflows. - Google Drive upload with resumable, fault-tolerant transfers. You provide your own OAuth Client ID; it is encrypted and stored only on your device. PRIVACY Everything stays on your machine. No servers, no tracking, no analytics. The only network traffic is the optional Drive upload you enable yourself. Six themes including a very cute capybara one, three font sizes, and eight interface languages.
