Capture Shield protects sensitive information displayed in your browser before it can appear in a recording, livestream, presentation, or screen share. It runs entirely inside Chrome. There is no account, no server, no analytics, and no data sent outside your browser. Whether you are streaming, recording a tutorial, sharing your screen with a client, creating a video, or presenting a dashboard, Capture Shield helps prevent accidental exposure of private information. WHAT CAPTURE SHIELD HIDES • Email addresses Detects email addresses across web pages, including addresses split across multiple page elements. • Phone numbers Detects common international and national phone number formats while rejecting many values that only look like phone numbers, such as order numbers, dates, SKUs and version strings. • Payment card numbers Detects payment card numbers using validation checks designed to distinguish real card numbers from ordinary 16-digit reference numbers. • Public IP addresses Detects public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. Private IP ranges such as 192.168.x.x are left visible because they do not identify you publicly. • Your personal information Add your own name, username, address, company name or any other information that you want protected. Capture Shield only treats information you explicitly add as your personal data. • Sensitive URLs Helps hide URLs containing tokens, session identifiers, email parameters or profile information that could reveal personal details. • Link destinations Chrome can display a link destination in the bottom-left corner when you hover over a link. Capture Shield can hide qualifying destinations and restore them when you click. • Account balances Amounts associated with account-related wording such as balance, available, payout or salary can be hidden while ordinary shop prices remain visible. • Cryptocurrency wallets Detects supported cryptocurrency wallet addresses, including common Bitcoin and Ethereum formats, as well as other compatible address formats. • Recovery phrases and private keys Sensitive wallet recovery information and private keys can also be protected. • Anything you choose Select text on a page, right-click it and choose "Hide this". The selected value becomes protected so you can hide information that automatic detection cannot recognize. PROTECT YOUR SCREEN WITH ONE CLICK Capture Mode enables protection across the available categories with a single action. It is designed for situations where you are about to start recording or streaming and do not want to manually enable multiple protections. PANIC MODE Press Ctrl+Shift+P to immediately activate maximum protection. Press the shortcut again to restore your previous settings. CUSTOM MASKING Choose how protected information appears: • Blur • Blackout • Dots • Partial masking Partial masking can leave the last few characters visible so that you can distinguish between different accounts or values without exposing the complete information. FORM FIELDS Capture Shield can visually protect sensitive information displayed inside form fields without changing the actual value being entered. What you type is still what the website receives. Autofill, validation and form submission are not intentionally rewritten by the extension. DYNAMIC WEBSITES Modern websites constantly change their content. Capture Shield is designed to detect newly appearing content, including messages, live chat lines and dashboard updates, rather than only scanning the page once. This is particularly useful for web applications such as email, chat and dashboards. PRIVACY FIRST Capture Shield was designed specifically to prevent private information from appearing in recordings. It is not a guarantee that every possible piece of private information will be detected. The extension cannot protect information outside Chrome. It does not protect: • Chrome's own interface such as the address bar, bookmarks, history or profile menus • Other desktop applications • Discord, OBS or other applications outside the browser • Text rendered inside canvas or WebGL • Text embedded inside images • Screenshots • PDFs rendered as pixels • Video content • Chrome pages that extensions cannot access • Information that the extension cannot recognize and that you have not manually added For maximum safety, use Capture Shield together with a clean streaming profile, appropriate screen cropping and other recording precautions. SITE EXCEPTIONS Protection can be disabled for specific websites where you do not need it. If a website behaves unexpectedly, you can add it to your website exceptions. SUPPORT If something is not being protected correctly, please report the website and the type of information involved. Do not send real passwords, private keys, recovery phrases, payment card numbers or other sensitive values when reporting a problem. Describe the format instead or replace sensitive characters.
