WHAT CAPTULE DOES Captule is a local-first Chrome extension for saving selected insights from ChatGPT conversations. Instead of backing up entire conversations, Captule lets you choose the valuable passages worth keeping. Use Captule to: • Save selected ChatGPT responses • Build a searchable library of useful insights • Organise insights with folders and tags • Add personal notes and reminders • Edit saved insight text • Search across saved content • Filter insights by folder or tag • Protect saved insights with Encrypted Vault Mode • Quickly cover the sidebar with Privacy Screen • Export and import JSON backups • Keep saved information under your control SAVE THE PARTS THAT MATTER ChatGPT conversations can become long and difficult to revisit. Captule lets you highlight a useful passage and save it directly into the extension sidebar. You do not need to save the entire conversation just to preserve one valuable answer. Captule provides full-text search across your saved insight library. Matching words are highlighted inside search results so you can quickly identify the information you need. Search saved insight text, notes, folders, and tags from one compact sidebar. ORGANISE WITH FOLDERS AND TAGS Place saved insights into folders based on projects, subjects, clients, workflows, or areas of interest. Add tags to connect related insights across different folders. Captule includes tools to: • Create folders and tags • Rename folders and tags • Merge duplicate folders and tags • Delete folders without deleting their insights • Move affected insights into another folder • Select existing folders with autocomplete • Add existing or new tags while saving and editing Case-insensitive matching helps prevent accidental duplicates such as “Research” and “research”. EDIT AND REFINE SAVED INSIGHTS Your saved knowledge does not have to remain frozen. Captule lets you edit: • The saved insight text • The assigned folder • Tags • Personal notes Use notes to capture context, highlight a next action, or record why an insight matters. LOCAL-FIRST PRIVACY Captule stores saved insights locally using Chrome extension storage. The current version: • Does not require a Captule account • Does not operate a Captule cloud backend • Does not sell user data • Does not intentionally collect analytics or telemetry • Does not send saved insights to Captule servers Your saved insights remain on your device unless you choose to export or copy them elsewhere. ENCRYPTED VAULT MODE Captule includes an optional Encrypted Vault Mode to help protect locally saved insights. When Encrypted Vault Mode is enabled: • Saved insights are encrypted locally • A passphrase is required to unlock the vault • The passphrase is not stored by Captule • Data-management actions remain unavailable while the vault is locked • The vault can automatically lock after inactivity • Logging out of ChatGPT locks the vault Important: Captule cannot recover a forgotten passphrase. If you lose the passphrase, you may permanently lose access to the encrypted vault and any backups exported while encryption was enabled. PRIVACY SCREEN Need to cover the sidebar quickly? Privacy Screen hides the visible vault contents without deleting anything. Privacy Screen is a visual privacy feature, not password protection. Use Encrypted Vault Mode when passphrase protection is required. BACKUP AND RESTORE Captule lets you export and import JSON backups. Backup behaviour depends on the vault mode: • When Encrypted Vault Mode is disabled, exported backups contain saved insights in readable JSON format. • When Encrypted Vault Mode is enabled, exported backups contain the encrypted vault data and require the correct passphrase to restore. Exported backup files are stored wherever you choose to download them. Captule cannot delete, recover, or manage copies stored outside the extension. Regular backups are recommended for important saved insights. CUSTOMISE YOUR SIDEBAR Adjust Captule to suit your browser workflow: • Position the sidebar on the left or right • Choose Compact or Comfortable width • Use Light, Dark, or System theme • Move the collapsed launcher between top, middle, or bottom • Collapse Captule when you need more conversation space HOW TO USE CAPTULE 1. Open a conversation on ChatGPT. 2. Highlight the useful response or passage. 3. Open Captule and select Save Insight. 4. Choose a folder, add tags, or include a note. 5. Search and retrieve the insight whenever you need it.
