Canvasdoc adds a local coursework assistant to Cal Poly Canvas. Discuss an assignment beside its original Canvas page, organize personal tasks, and work with course materials and files in a folder on your computer. Features • Keep a conversation attached to each assignment. • Expand the same conversation into a workspace with file previews and downloads. • View Canvas assignments and add your own personal tasks. • Synchronize accessible course materials into your local workspace. • Ask for explanations, study help, drafts, and code using a persistent Codex agent. • Select an available model and reasoning effort, stop responses, and reconnect to your workspace. Requirements • A Cal Poly Canvas account. Other schools are not currently supported. • Chrome on macOS for the current native-bridge setup. • Node.js 22.13 or later and the local canvasdoc-cli companion. • A Codex account with access to a supported model. Provider plan and usage limits apply. The companion runs on your computer and must remain running while you use the agent. Messages, selected course context, and files the agent reads may be sent to your configured model provider. Local execution does not mean offline AI processing. Canvas remains the source of official course data and submission status. Personal tasks are stored by Canvasdoc. Course-material synchronization does not submit assignments automatically; marking a Canvas to-do complete updates your Canvas planner checkmark. Chat attachments support files up to 5 MB. Inspector previews and downloads support files up to 25 MiB. Larger files remain available in your workspace folder.
