Read your Canvas PDFs without collecting duplicate downloads. Canvas PDF Tabs opens University of Utah Canvas PDFs in separate Chrome tabs, replacing the embedded preview with a reader focused on your document. Open PDFs from assignments, course pages and Files, then keep reading as you navigate elsewhere in Canvas. READ COMFORTABLY • Sharp zoom with touchpad gestures, zoom buttons and percentage controls. • Continuous scrolling, page-number navigation and one- or two-page layouts. • Text search with Ctrl+F and support for clickable PDF links. • Light, dark and system themes. • Normal click opens an active reader tab; Ctrl+click opens it in the background. KEEP YOUR ANNOTATIONS • Create named page bookmarks. • Add editable notes directly on the page. • Drag and resize notes, change their color and transparency, and save reusable styles. • Highlight selectable text with Ctrl+Shift+H. • Navigate through your saved annotations using a compact sidebar. • Close and reopen the same PDF to restore your annotations. Annotations stay locally on this computer in your Chrome profile. They are not synced to other devices or sent to a developer-operated service. Clearing extension storage or uninstalling removes them. Opening a PDF does not automatically save a file to Downloads. A Download button remains available when you want the original PDF; downloaded files do not include the extension’s annotations. Requires a signed-in University of Utah Canvas session at utah.instructure.com. Other Canvas institutions are not supported in this release. Search and highlighting require selectable PDF text.
