Overview

Beautify Google Calendar with your own image, grid lines and event colors generated from it.

Turn an image into your Google Calendar style. Start with a photo or illustration you love. CalHue places it behind Google Calendar on the web, tints the grid lines to match, and makes event colors from your image that you can add to Google Calendar as its own event labels. With Pro, save complete looks as themes and switch them in one click. START WITH AN IMAGE Choose an image in the CalHue popup, drop it onto the preview, or paste it. JPG, PNG and WebP are supported. Drag the preview, or use the arrow keys, to choose which part of the image shows. A readability veil follows Google Calendar's light or dark theme to keep events clear, with an optional soft blur. Replace or remove the image whenever you like. Images are processed inside the extension and are never uploaded. Backgrounds shown in the store screenshots are examples of user-selected images; CalHue does not include a wallpaper library. The background shows in day, week, month, year, schedule and custom views. Settings, Tasks, Trash and the full event editor keep Google's own look. GRID LINES THAT FIT Choose a color for Google Calendar's grid lines and how strongly they show, or keep Google's own lines. Changes apply on their own a moment after you stop adjusting. COLORS FROM YOUR IMAGE CalHue generates six event colors that belong with your background and keep event titles readable in Google Calendar, in both light and dark themes. Generating and previewing them is free; with Pro, save them as a palette. Everything runs inside the extension. YOUR COLORS, IN GOOGLE CALENDAR (PRO) Add any palette to Google Calendar as event labels in one step. Each color becomes a label named after its palette and its color, such as "Sag Mauve". You then pick it from an event's color menu, like any label you made yourself. • Before it starts, CalHue tells you what it will do: open the chosen calendar's settings, add the labels in Google's own Labels dialog, and come back to your page. It takes a few seconds. • Labels are saved in your Google account, so they are there wherever you use Google Calendar. • CalHue only adds labels. It never changes or removes the labels you already have, and never edits your events. • Labels can be added to calendars you can edit; read-only calendars, such as birthdays or holidays, don't have them. PALETTES IN THE CALENDAR COLOR MENU Open the ⋮ menu next to a calendar in Google Calendar's sidebar, and your palettes appear below Google's colors. Pick one to set the calendar's color; Google saves it through its own custom color. CalHue comes with six palettes: Sage & Plum, Coastal, Terracotta, Nordic, Orchard and Dusk. Create as many palettes of your own as you like, and choose which ones show in the menu. THEMES (PRO) Save your background, the part of it that shows, the veil, the blur and the grid lines together as a theme, and switch between saved themes in one click. Themes never change your palettes or your Google Calendar labels. You can rename or delete themes at any time. FREE AND PRO Free: your own background with its position, veil and blur; grid line color and opacity; six preset palettes and unlimited palettes of your own; palettes in the calendar color menu; previewing colors generated from your background. CalHue Pro is an optional one-time purchase (US$9.99, plus applicable taxes) that adds: saving generated colors as a palette, adding any palette to Google Calendar as event labels, and saving and switching themes. One purchase, no subscription; a license key works on up to 3 devices. Checkout is handled by Creem, our Merchant of Record. Full refunds are available within 14 days of purchase. If Pro ends, everything you saved and your current look stay, and labels already in Google Calendar remain yours. UPDATING FROM AN EARLIER VERSION Earlier versions of CalHue colored single events inside the extension. Google Calendar now supports custom event colors itself, so CalHue leaves event colors to Google. • Your background, with its veil and blur, and your palettes carry over. • Colors you set on single events no longer show. They are kept as the palette "Legacy event colors": add it to Google in one step, then apply the labels to your events. • If CalHue was updated from an early version on your browser, Pro is unlocked on that installation at no charge, as thanks for your early support. • Reload any Google Calendar tabs that were open during the update. PRIVACY Your backgrounds, palettes, themes and settings are saved in your Chrome profile and are not synchronized by CalHue to other browsers or devices. CalHue reads the structure of Google Calendar pages and the names of your calendars to provide its features; it does not read your event titles, times or guests. It writes to your Google account only when you ask it to add event labels or set a calendar color, and only through Google Calendar's own interface. Images and calendar data are never sent to the developer. If you enter a Pro license key, CalHue sends the key and a random installation identifier to our license server, which verifies it with Creem. There is no CalHue account, and no ads or analytics. GET STARTED 1. Open Google Calendar on the web. If it was already open, reload it. 2. Click the CalHue icon in the Chrome toolbar. If you don't see it, click the puzzle icon and pin CalHue. 3. Style sets your background, veil, blur and grid lines; Themes & palettes holds your themes, palettes and generated colors; Account shows your plan and license. CalHue works with Google Calendar on the web in Chrome. The background, grid lines and veil show only in the Chrome profile where CalHue is installed. A Google account is needed to use Google Calendar; no separate CalHue account is required. CalHue is available in English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Russian.
