Overview
Enable in-context translation editing on production websites using Comvi i18n
Comvi in-context editor — edit your site's translations live, right on the page. The Comvi in-context editor lets you edit translations directly on your running website. Hover over any translated text, hold a modifier key to highlight it, and click to open an editor where you can change both the source text and its translations — without leaving the page. REQUIREMENTS - A website built with Comvi i18n 0.6.0 or newer, with .use(devtools()) on its i18n instance. That one line lets the extension find the site and lets the site load the editor when you turn it on. - A Comvi API key, which you enter once in the extension. - If the site sends a Content Security Policy, its script-src must allow https://cdn.jsdelivr.net, where the editor is loaded from. HOW IT WORKS - Add .use(devtools()) to your site's i18n instance (Comvi i18n 0.6.0 or newer). - Install the extension, click it, and enter your Comvi API key. - Open your site and press Enable editor in the extension. - Hold Option (Mac) or Alt (Windows) and move your mouse over the page — translatable text becomes highlighted. - Click a highlighted string to open the editor popup. - Edit the source text and translations, then save — changes go to your Comvi project right away. WHO IT'S FOR - Translators and content managers who want to see and edit strings in their real context, not in a disconnected list. - Developers and teams managing their translations in Comvi who want to refine copy directly on the site. KEY FEATURES - Edit translations on the live page, in their real visual context. - Highlight translatable text on demand with Option/Alt + hover. - Edit both the source text and its translations in a single popup. - Connect with a single API key — no separate login. - Saved changes go to your Comvi project immediately. If your site loads translations from Comvi's CDN, a published edit reaches the CDN in about a minute and visitors see it on their next load; otherwise it goes live with your next deploy. - If the editor can't start on a page, the extension tells you why and what to change. ABOUT COMVI Comvi is a translation management platform for modern development teams. Keys live in your code, translations live in Comvi, and updates can go live without a redeploy.
