Overview

Adds calm breaks to endless feeds and streaming, showing how long you've been at it this session.

Add calm breaks to the feeds and streams you scroll longer than you meant to. Cadence pauses endless feeds and video or livestream sites with a small note on the page showing how long this session has run, then gets out of the way again. It paces the sites people actually lose time on, not a generic timer running in the background. Pacing That Fits Each Site: • Scrolling feeds pace by how many posts go by, while video and livestream pages pace by minutes watched. • Choose Gentle, Standard, or Frequent to set every site at once, or set an exact pace for each site from the options page. A Break, Not a Wall: • The break note shows how long this session has run and how many posts went by. • Dismiss it, snooze Cadence for an hour right from the note, or snooze for 1, 2, or 3 hours from the toolbar popup, without turning Cadence off. • Let the note clear itself after a few seconds instead of waiting for a click. • The toolbar popup and badge show how close the current site is to its next break before one appears. • Step away for fifteen minutes and the count starts fresh, so a new visit never inherits an old one. • Put the note at the bottom left, center, or right. It follows your system light or dark theme. • Keyboard shortcuts turn Cadence on or off, or snooze it, without opening anything. When Calm Isn't Enough (Optional): • Intention check asks what you came for when you arrive, then repeats it at each break. • Sluggish scrolling slows the mouse wheel a little more the longer a session runs, from ten minutes in. • Glitch mode makes your feed fall apart once you scroll past a break: images tear, colors flicker, and posts tilt or drop out, getting worse with every break you ignore. Hover over a broken post to put it back together while you read it. Glitch asks before it turns on, keeps flashes under three a second, and follows your system's reduce motion setting. See Where Your Time Goes: • Local activity stats show break counts and time spent per site by day, week, month, or year, plus today's total right in the break note. • Set an hourly rate to see what that time costs today and over the last 7 days, and count only your working hours and breaks if you like. • Click a legend entry to hide a site from the chart, or show the exact numbers as a table. Private by Design: • Pacing and page changes happen locally in your browser. • Local stats are on by default, are stored only in Chrome on your device, and can be turned off or cleared anytime. • Anonymous usage analytics, on by default, report things like daily use and which settings changed, never the settings' values, page content, or the sites you visit. Turn them off anytime from the options page. Cadence supports popular services including Reddit, YouTube, and many more. Supported sites and their pacing can change as those services update their own pages. Read the full privacy policy: https://zektek.com/cadence/privacy/
