Overview

What book is this? Identify a book from any picture or cover photo and save it to your reading list, before it's lost in bookmarks.

What book is this? See a cover on X, Reddit or Pinterest, right-click it, and Buki Identifies the book from the photo using AI, ready to save to your reading list. Your TBR lives in your browser, with free export to Goodreads and StoryGraph. You see a book in a post. You save the post, and never find it again. It sinks under everything you saved after it, and months later you cannot tell the ones you meant from the impulse saves. Buki gives those books a place. IT READS THE PICTURE Right-click any book cover and choose "Save book to shelf". X, Reddit, Pinterest, a newsletter, a blog, anywhere there is a picture. Buki's AI reads the cover, then checks the answer against Open Library before anything is filed. It works on a photograph with no link and no title written anywhere. On X, Buki's own mark sits in the post's action bar and does the same thing in one press. On X, it also reads the post's words. A photograph holding several books gives you every one of them, up to 20. HOW THE RECOGNITION WORKS Buki uses AI image recognition to identify a book from its cover. The picture goes to an AI vision model, with the post's words when it comes from X, because a caption often names the book. Every guess is then checked against Open Library's catalogue, so an AI answer on its own never reaches your shelf, and nothing is saved until you press Save. SHELVES YOU NAME Every book you save lands in All books. Name your own shelves, such as "Business" or "Thrillers", and save a book straight onto one from the card that found it, or add it from your shelf later. A book can sit on as many shelves as you like. Inside every shelf, filter by where you are with each book: Reading now, Next, Someday or Finished. A new catch starts at Someday, and a book you are already reading stays where it is. Filter a shelf by genre, or by the site you found the book on, and put it in order by title, author or the day you saved it. A SHELF YOU CAN SHOW Share turns the shelf you are looking at into a picture of its covers, or a plain list of titles, ready to paste wherever you post. Buki draws it on your computer and hands it to you. Nothing is uploaded. IT TELLS YOU WHEN IT DID NOT READ THE COVER A book found from the link in the post, or from the post's own words, says so on the card. So you can see how it got there, and decide for yourself whether it is right. Buki keeps a private record of its own attempts on your computer, to grade itself against real use. That record never leaves your machine and you can clear it whenever you like. IT KEEPS THE POST THAT SOLD YOU The picture you caught a book from stays with the book, with a link back to the post. Months later you see which book you saved and why you wanted it. YOUR SHELF IS YOURS It lives in your browser. No account, no sign-up, no sync, no analytics. Export your reading list to Goodreads or StoryGraph whenever you like, free, on every plan. Uninstalling takes it all with it. WHAT IT COSTS Ten catches from a photograph are free. No card, no account, nothing to set up. After that, Buki Pro is $4 a month or $29 a year. Free forever, with no limit: books caught from a shop link or from a post's own words, your whole shelf, sharing, export, and unlimited cover reading with your own API key from Google AI Studio or any OpenAI-compatible provider. Shelves you name, up to 24, are free too. WHAT LEAVES YOUR COMPUTER, AND WHEN Reading a cover from a photograph is the one thing Buki cannot do on your machine. When you ask it to, that one picture, with the post's words on X, is sent to Buki's server, which passes it to an AI vision model and returns the answer. The picture is not stored and no account is attached to it, because there is no account. Nothing else about you is sent. To find each book's cover and genre, its title and author go to Open Library, the Internet Archive's free catalogue, including once for the books you saved before this version. If you would rather not involve us at all, add your own key in settings and the picture goes straight to the provider you chose instead. AFFILIATE DISCLOSURE Saved books carry a Buy link. If you buy through it, Buki may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It appears only on books you already saved, and it never changes what Buki shows you. You can choose Amazon or Bookshop.org, which supports independent bookshops.
