THIS EXTENSION IS FOR BETA TESTING. Browser Sentinel is a detection-only browser safety tool that watches for combinations of behavior commonly associated with browser hijacking and fake security-alert pages. It assigns a local risk score and shows a warning badge when a page or spawned navigation behaves suspiciously. The beta can detect: - New tabs or windows created without a recent user gesture - Bursts of popup or navigation targets - Large fixed overlays that cover much of the page - Unusually high overlay stacking levels - Security-scare or impersonation phrases - Password fields or telephone links inside large overlays - Fullscreen or pointer lock entered without a recent gesture Browser Sentinel does not automatically close tabs or block sites in this beta. This deliberate detection-only design lets testers measure false positives before any enforcement features are considered. Privacy is part of the design. Analysis happens on your device. The extension stores a limited local history containing timestamps, site hostnames, risk scores, severity labels, and generic detection reasons. It does not store page text, passwords, form entries, browsing history, or full URLs. It does not transmit data to the developer or any third party, does not use analytics, and does not display advertising. You can pause detection, adjust risk thresholds, allowlist trusted hostnames, and clear local history from Settings. Beta limitations: - Desktop Chrome only for this release - Detection is heuristic and may produce false positives or miss harmful behavior - Chrome internal pages and the Chrome Web Store cannot be inspected by extensions - This tool complements—not replaces—browser updates, endpoint protection, safe-browsing services, and sound security practices Please report reproducible false positives, missed detections, performance issues, and accessibility problems through the beta support channel supplied by the publisher.
