Overview

Parental filter: applies the rules a parent set for this child, checks pages against them, and shows when it is active.

Browser Monitor is a parental filter. A parent installs it on their child's Chrome profile, pairs it with their account, and sets the rules for that child. It then applies those rules as the child browses. What it does • Blocks the sites and kinds of search the parent has put on the child's lists, before the page loads. • Asks about a site or a search the lists do not settle, and holds it on a "checking" page for a moment while it does. • Reads the visible text of an open page and covers the page if it breaks the parent's rules. • Turns on the strict safe-search setting on supported search sites, and can hide AI-generated answers on search results. • Lets the child ask a parent to allow something that was blocked. • Tells the parent when the extension is removed, switched off, or stops reporting. What the child sees The toolbar button says that filtering and monitoring are on, what they do, and that a parent set them up. Every block page says the same and offers a request to the parent. What is sent, and what is not Only after a parent has consented, and only from a browser that parent paired: the site name, the page path, the words of a search, and the visible text of open pages, to answer the parent's questions about them. Records of blocks are kept for 90 days. Passwords, cookies, form contents, images, video and anything typed into a page are never collected. The text of pages on webmail, messaging, banking, health and school record sites is never read. Browser Monitor is in a private pilot. It needs a parent account; it does nothing until one is paired.
