Bridge — Subtitle Voice & Translation
Overview
Read video subtitles aloud and translate them with local voices, language controls and original-audio ducking.
Bridge reads available video subtitles aloud with a voice you choose. Listen to translated captions, lectures and lessons without reading every line on screen. Choose your result language and start speech directly in the video player. Supported integrations include YouTube, TED, Vimeo, Udemy, Coursera and other players shown in the listing screenshot. Available text subtitles are required. FEATURES • Choose the source language and the language for translation and speech separately. • Set Bridge's buttons and settings to English, Russian or Uzbek. • Use male and female voices where available for your chosen language, with manual or automatic selection. • Adjust speech speed and volume. • Smoothly lower the original video audio during speech. • Stop speech when you pause or seek. • Hide the subtitle text while keeping speech enabled. • Save preferences on your device and preview a voice with sample text. GET STARTED 1. After installation, open Bridge settings using the extension icon. 2. Choose your interface language and result language. 3. Install the voice you need or select a compatible local system voice. 4. Open a captioned video and press the Bridge button in the player. VOICES AND TRANSLATION The catalogue includes 53 voice packs for 49 languages. Each voice is installed separately, with its size, source and usage terms shown before download. Other voices are not downloaded automatically. Remove an unwanted pack and install it again whenever you need it. On YouTube, the website provides translated captions. In other supported players, Bridge uses an available caption track in your chosen language or Chrome's local Translator in Chrome 138 or later, when the browser, device and language pair are supported. A language being listed in the voice catalogue does not guarantee translation support. Speech is generated on your computer. Subtitle text and audio are not sent to the developer or a cloud speech service. No Bridge account is required. Memory-saving mode is enabled by default. PLEASE NOTE Bridge reads text subtitles; it does not transcribe speech from arbitrary videos. Availability depends on the caption tracks, languages and player. The first voice or translation-data download requires internet access. After a voice is installed, its preview works offline; online videos and captions still depend on the website. Local speech speed depends on your computer.
