Overview
Monitor official API changelogs, catch breaking changes and deadlines, and plan migrations locally in Chrome.
Catch breaking API changes before the deadline. Breakwater is a local-first API change monitor for official developer changelogs and release feeds. It surfaces only the changes that match your production stack, then gives the team one place to assign owners, plan migrations, and keep private notes beside the source. How it works: 1. Choose the platforms and change categories your production stack depends on. 2. Breakwater checks official changelog feeds and highlights matching risks and deadlines. 3. Use the Chrome Side Panel to assign an owner, keep notes, and work through a migration checklist. Why Chrome asks for site access: - Chrome grants access to the 10 official feed domains included in Free so scheduled checks can run in the background. - Breakwater only polls sources you enable. It cannot read tabs, browsing history, passwords, source code, or arbitrary page content. - A custom RSS or Atom feed uses a separate permission prompt for only the exact HTTPS origin you add. Key capabilities: - Choose from 60 curated official changelog and upstream release sources. - Add up to 100 custom HTTPS RSS or Atom feeds per browser with Pro. - Prioritize breaking changes, deprecations, security updates, authentication changes, webhooks, rate limits, and policy updates. - See an Answer Band based on real platform, category, and Stack-filter matches. - Track explicit effective dates, owners, private notes, status, and migration checklists. - Search, save, snooze, and safely import or export configuration. - Work in the Chrome Side Panel with keyboard navigation and dark or light themes. Local-first by design: Breakwater does not inspect source code or browsing history and has no user account, extension analytics, advertising, or application backend. Settings, custom source URLs, notes, reading state, and feed history stay in Chrome local storage. Feed markup is converted to plain text and never rendered. Optional feed access is requested only for an exact HTTPS origin selected by the user. After removal, Chrome may open a no-cookie feedback page containing only the store, version and an optional closed-choice reason; no extension data or identifier is sent. Free monitors any 3 of the 10 core sources with 1 Stack, daily checks, and 30-day history. Pro unlocks all 60 curated sources, custom RSS/Atom feeds, unlimited Stacks, hourly checks, 90-day history, deadline reminders, and optional Slack alerts.
