Stress-test your UI with text expansion, pseudo-localization, RTL, and suspected overflow highlighting.

BreakIt helps product designers, frontend developers, QA engineers, and localization teams find fragile UI before it reaches users. Instead of manually guessing what happens when text gets longer, a layout switches to RTL, or localization puts pressure on your components, BreakIt lets you stress-test the current webpage directly in the browser. Open a page, click BreakIt, choose a stress mode, and inspect what breaks. What BreakIt can test Text expansion Increase eligible visible interface text by approximately: • +30% • +50% • +100% This helps reveal issues such as clipped labels, overflowing buttons, broken cards, fixed-height containers, awkward wrapping, and other layouts that only work with short copy. Pseudo-localization Replace visible interface text with recognizable pseudo-localized content using accented characters and additional length. This is useful for testing localization pressure before real translations are available. Pseudo-localization is not translation. It is designed specifically to expose layout assumptions. RTL stress testing Switch the page into a right-to-left direction to help identify: • hard-coded left/right positioning • alignment problems • directional layout assumptions • navigation issues • components that behave poorly in RTL environments BreakIt changes page direction for testing purposes; it does not attempt to fully localize the interface or automatically mirror every directional icon. Overflow detection BreakIt scans the current page for potential layout problems such as: • clipped content • text truncation • overflowing containers • suspicious text-overflow: ellipsis usage • horizontal overflow introduced by stress testing Potential issues can be highlighted directly on the page so they are easier to inspect. Detection is intentionally heuristic: a highlighted element is something worth checking, not necessarily a confirmed defect. Combine stress tests Modes can be combined. For example: Expand text by +50%. Enable pseudo-localization. Highlight suspected overflow. This makes it easy to put significantly more pressure on an interface than normal test content usually provides. Reset when finished BreakIt temporarily modifies the current page for testing. Click Reset page to remove BreakIt's stress-test changes and restore the interface as closely as possible to its original state. Reloading or navigating away also clears BreakIt's temporary state. Designed to stay simple BreakIt does not require: • an account • onboarding • a backend • an AI service • API keys • project setup • uploading your design or source code Install it, open the webpage you want to test, and start stressing the UI. Privacy BreakIt is designed to work locally in your browser. It does not include: • analytics • telemetry • advertising trackers • external APIs • cloud storage • remote code • persistent collection of webpage content BreakIt needs temporary access to the active webpage so it can read rendered interface content, modify the page for stress testing, inspect layout geometry, highlight potential issues, and reset its changes. Page contents are not sent to the developer or uploaded to an external service. What BreakIt is not BreakIt is not intended to replace: • professional accessibility audits • localization QA • browser compatibility testing • automated end-to-end testing • translation software It is a fast UI stress-testing tool designed to expose problems that are easy to miss when interfaces are only tested with ideal content. Current limitations BreakIt primarily works with the current page's main rendered DOM. Some content may not be testable, including: • iframes • some Shadow DOM content • canvas-rendered text • browser-protected pages such as Chrome settings and the Chrome Web Store • editable fields and certain form values • code blocks and SVG content Some highly dynamic applications may also react to DOM changes themselves.
