Open the extension and choose the audio file. The BPM appears after analysis alongside the musical key, scale, Camelot code and confidence score. How does the song key detector work? The extension analyzes tonal information in the audio to estimate its musical key and scale. The result also includes the corresponding Camelot code for harmonic mixing. What is a Camelot code? It is a shorthand used by DJs for harmonic mixing. Each musical key maps to a number plus A for minor or B for major, making it easier to identify tracks that are likely to mix well together. Can it detect the key of a song playing in a browser tab? Not yet. This version analyzes audio files selected from your device rather than capturing audio from a website or browser tab. Is the BPM and key detection accurate? The extension reports a confidence score with every result. Clean, tonal material usually produces a stronger result, while heavily processed or atonal tracks may be worth verifying by ear. Does my audio get uploaded?
