Overview

A browser extension to show some 'boring' loading texts when loading a webpage

Turn ordinary loading moments into something worth reading. Boring Loading displays short, entertaining messages while webpages load and can replace generic thinking labels in supported AI tools. No accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking. =============================================================================== WHAT IT DOES Boring Loading adds a lightweight loading message to webpages without changing how the page itself works. Choose from the included text collections or create your own source from RSS and Atom feeds. On supported AI sites, the extension can also replace a generic “Thinking” message with a loading text. Meaningful progress from the site remains visible underneath. =============================================================================== KEY FEATURES LOADING MESSAGES ACROSS THE WEB - Shows a compact text overlay while a webpage loads - Automatically disappears when the page is ready - Click the overlay to dismiss it immediately AI SITE INTEGRATIONS - Optional integrations for ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini - Replaces generic thinking labels with a selected loading text - Adds a small, unobtrusive loading symbol before injected text - Preserves meaningful progress messages shown by Claude and Gemini - Enable or disable each site independently in Settings CUSTOM RSS / ATOM SOURCES - Create a named custom text type from one or more RSS or Atom feed URLs - Feed entry titles become loading texts, with their original links preserved - Custom types appear alongside built-in types as selectable checkboxes - Edit or delete a custom type at any time - Only selected custom types are fetched - The editor displays the latest feed or permission error RECENT LOADINGS - Review recently displayed loading texts from the extension popup - Open the original page in a new tab when a loading text includes a link - Choose how many recent items to keep, from 1 to 99 - A height-limited list keeps the popup compact CUSTOMIZABLE APPEARANCE - Small, medium, or large text size - Preset colors or any custom text color - Custom loading-message background color - Adjustable background opacity - Foldable Settings sections for a cleaner layout TEXT TYPES - Select only the text collections you want to use - Includes funny loading messages and poetry-based quotes - Add any number of custom RSS / Atom types - Network updates are limited to selected types =============================================================================== HOW TO USE IT 1. Install Boring Loading. 2. Browse normally and see a message while a page loads. 3. Open the extension popup to view Recent Loadings. 4. Open Settings to choose text types, appearance, and site integrations. 5. Optionally select “+Add custom RSS/Atom” to create a type from your feeds. When adding a feed from a new website, Chrome asks for access to that feed’s domain. The custom type is saved before the permission prompt, so setup can continue even if the popup closes. If access is not granted, the type remains saved and its editor shows the latest permission error. =============================================================================== FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: Does the extension interfere with webpage or AI-site loading? A: No. It changes only the displayed loading text and does not modify the site’s underlying work. Q: Are the AI integrations always enabled? A: No. ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini are separate checkboxes in Settings, so each integration is controlled by the user. Q: Why does Chrome request access when I add an RSS or Atom feed? A: Chrome requires permission before an extension can download a feed from its website. Access is requested only for the feed domain you add. Q: What happens if feed access is declined? A: The custom type remains saved. Open it in Settings to see the latest error and try again later. Q: Are unselected RSS types fetched? A: No. Only selected text types are included during synchronization. Q: Does it work offline? A: Previously cached loading texts remain available offline. Updating built-in collections or RSS / Atom feeds requires a network connection.
