BookmarkD
Overview
A keyboard-first bookmark manager.
BookmarkD is a keyboard-first manager for your Chrome bookmarks. Find a saved page, navigate nested folders, and organize your collection with search, selection, and a command palette. FEATURES • Search bookmark titles, URLs, domains, and folder paths. Start a query with / to search folders. • Browse nested folders in a compact card layout; collapse cards or focus a folder subtree. • Select bookmarks and folders together, keep selections visible in a dedicated card, and use bulk actions. • Drag items to reorder them or move them between folders, with protection against moving a folder into itself or its descendants. • Create folders, edit folder paths, move items, sort folder contents, and copy bookmark URLs. • Move items into BookmarkD Trash after confirmation. Restore items to their saved original locations when local metadata and the original parent folder are available. • Confirm permanent deletion from BookmarkD Trash or Empty BookmarkD Trash with Cancel focused by default. • Open the Manager as a pinned tab by default, or choose a normal tab, detached window, or Chrome side panel from Actions. GET STARTED 1. Click the toolbar icon, or press Command+Period on Mac / Ctrl+Period on Windows or Linux. Configure conflicts at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. 2. Type in Search, then press Arrow Down or Arrow Up to move focus into the list. Use Arrow keys to navigate and Space to select the highlighted bookmark or folder row. Double-click a folder row to open its card. 3. Press Command+K / Ctrl+K to open Actions. Commands describe the current selection or folder they affect. 4. Move unwanted items into BookmarkD Trash. Select an item there and choose Restore from Actions or the Selected-items card to return it to its saved original location. KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS • Command+Period / Ctrl+Period: launch or focus the Manager. • Command+K / Ctrl+K: toggle Actions. • Arrow keys: navigate items; Space: toggle selection. • Enter: open the highlighted bookmark in a new tab; for a highlighted folder row, focus its folder contents. Double-click a bookmark also opens a new tab. • Alt+Enter: open the selected bookmarks in a new window. • Command+A / Ctrl+A outside Search: select all available items. • Command+C / Ctrl+C outside Search: copy selected bookmark URLs. • M outside Search: move the current selection; N: create a folder; F2: edit the selected folder's path. • Delete: request deletion confirmation. Backspace outside Search edits the search query instead of deleting bookmarks. • Escape: dismiss a dialog or editing/action flow, clear search or selection as applicable, or close the Manager when no such state remains. • Command/Ctrl-click adds or toggles rows; Shift-click selects a range within a folder card. PRIVACY AND RESTORE LIMITS BookmarkD processes bookmark data locally through Chrome APIs. It has no analytics, telemetry, or developer-operated data transmission. Chrome may synchronize native bookmarks through your Google Account. BookmarkD's original-location restore metadata stays in chrome.storage.local and does not sync with those bookmarks. Original-location restoration may be unavailable on another device, after reinstalling/clearing extension data, or after deleting the original parent folder. Opening a saved page uses that website normally, and icons use Chrome's favicon service. Requires Chrome 116 or later. The built manifest supplies the launch shortcut; availability depends on Chrome's shortcut assignments. Side-panel closing depends on the Chrome version's supported API; Chrome's own close control remains available. SUPPORT Email victorlabs108@gmail.com for help or feedback.
