BookmarkCipher is a private bookmark manager for desktop Chrome. Save useful pages, organize your links, and keep bookmark contents encrypted locally on your device. Use it to keep personal links separate from ordinary browser bookmarks, organize work and research resources, and maintain encrypted backups that you control. SAVE AND ORGANIZE • Save the current webpage or add a link manually. • Import browser bookmarks or an HTML bookmark file. • Organize links in nested folders. • Search titles, URLs, tags and notes while your vault is unlocked. • Manage multiple bookmarks with batch actions. LOCAL ENCRYPTION Your vault password and optional recovery key are used locally. Bookmark contents are not uploaded to our licensing service, and no cloud bookmark sync is included. Vault names and backup filenames remain readable. HTML and JSON exports are unencrypted. FREE TO START The Free version works without an account or payment and includes: • One new vault. • Up to 50 bookmarks, including Trash. • Browser and HTML bookmark import. • Folders, search and batch actions. • Manual encrypted backup, data export and basic restoration. • Self-held recovery keys. OPTIONAL PRO UPGRADE Pro Local is a one-time purchase with no subscription or recurring charge. It adds: • Multiple vaults. • No commercial bookmark-count limit. • Scheduled local encrypted backups. • Restoration of available local snapshots. BACKUP AND RECOVERY Save encrypted backups outside the extension before uninstalling it or clearing browser storage. If you forget your password, you can use a matching recovery key that you previously enabled and saved. Support cannot decrypt your vault or replace a lost recovery key. Automatic backups require Chrome to be running, download permission, and available storage. They are local downloads, not cloud backups. PERMISSIONS YOU CONTROL Optional browser bookmark access is requested when you import bookmarks. Download access supports managed and scheduled backups. Optional tab access helps identify the page you choose to save. Online license operations use our licensing service separately from your encrypted bookmarks. Requires desktop Chrome 116 or later.
