Years of saved links pile up, and a lot of them quietly stop working. Bookmark Doctor scans your whole Chrome bookmark library, tells you what is actually wrong with each link, and lets you review before you remove anything. NOT EVERY FAILED LINK IS DEAD Most cleaners treat "it did not open" as "it is broken" — that is how you lose links you still wanted. Bookmark Doctor sorts every bookmark into four buckets: • Valid — the page answered normally. • Limited — reachable but gated: sign-in required, 401/403, a private workspace link, rate limiting. • Invalid — genuinely gone: 404 or 410 on the page, or a domain now parked for sale. • Failed — no reliable conclusion: timeout, DNS or TLS error, server error. A 404 on a large, well-known site lands here too, because that is often a firewall or regional block rather than a dead page. No checker is perfect, and nothing is deleted automatically — but a bookmark behind a login wall stops looking dead. IT ALSO CATCHES • Redirects: it follows them and shows where a bookmark now lands. • Tracking clutter: utm_*, gclid, fbclid and similar parameters are stripped after a scan. • Statuses stream in as the scan runs, with a summary at the end. REVIEW BEFORE YOU CLEAN • Filter by status or by what was redirected. Search titles and URLs, sort by name or status — your folder tree stays intact. • Disagree with a result? Mark a bookmark valid or invalid yourself; it survives the next scan. • Select in bulk and delete, with a confirmation step first. • Redirects that stay on the same site are applied for you; a redirect to a different domain always asks first. • Interface available in 8 languages, including 简体中文, 日本語 and Français. PRIVACY • No account, no ads, no analytics, no third-party trackers. • Bookmark URLs go to our own checking service only when you run a scan — the only way to learn whether a page still answers. Results may be cached there for up to 24 hours. • Titles, folder names, browsing history and cookies are never sent.
