KanjiSensei - Learn Kanji while browsing

Transforming web pages, this extension swaps English and French words with Japanese Kanji characters or JLPT words.

Learn kanji while you browse. KanjiSensei replaces a handful of English or French words on the pages you read with their Japanese kanji or words. Hover a replaced word to see its meaning, readings, JLPT level and a link to Jisho. - Pick the JLPT levels you study (N5 to N1) - Choose how many words to replace per page - Kanji or whole-word mode - Card language: English or French, light or dark theme - Blacklist domains where you don't want replacements - Local history of the cards you opened, per day, exportable as TSV Matching is word-for-word, without context: the goal is kanji exposure and memorization, not accurate translation. ## Changelog ### 1.11 (2026-09-14) - Word mode only matches a word's two main dictionary meanings: 歯 no longer replaces "support", 聞く no longer replaces "asked" - Interjections and conjunctions match only their headline translation: どうも is "thank you", not "much" / "quite"; さあ no longer replaces "come" / "here" - Kana-only JLPT words resolve to their common entry: これ is "this", not "hey" / "look"; いくら is "how much", not "salted salmon roe" - "so", "then", "well" ("alors", "donc") are no longer replaced (じゃ, では, だから) - Hand-curated words: "to see" → 見る (missing from the JLPT list), "goodbye" → さようなら, "thanks" → ありがとう, "sorry" → すみません - The Japanese match for the 2000 most common English and French words was reviewed.
