Heat Tabs

Tabs you've been using glow red and cool to blue, then grey, as you leave them alone.

Lose track of your tabs? Heat Tabs shows which ones you were just using. Every tab's icon gets a color tile based on how recently and how much you've used it: 🟥 Red: you were just there 🟧 Orange and 🟨 yellow: a few minutes ago 🟦 Blue: a while back ⬜ Grey: forgotten Switching to a tab heats it up, and staying on it keeps it hot. Leave a tab alone and it cools off. You can see in the tab strip which tabs you've been working in without reading a single title. FIND ANY TAB FAST Press Alt+Shift+H, or click the toolbar icon, to see every tab in every window ranked hottest first. Type to search titles and addresses, use the arrow keys, and press Enter to jump straight there. YOU CHOOSE HOW FAST TABS COOL Heat halves every 20 minutes by default. You can change that to anywhere from 5 minutes to 8 hours. WORKS RIGHT AWAY When you install it, Heat Tabs uses Chrome's own record of when you last viewed each tab, so your existing tabs are colored immediately. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No accounts, no servers, no analytics. Heat scores stay in your browser and are cleared when you quit Chrome. Heat Tabs never reads or changes page content. It only swaps the tab icon. Notes • Chrome's own pages (new tab, settings), the Chrome Web Store and PDFs can't be recolored, but they still appear in the heat list. • If you turn off the extension, colored icons stay until you reload those tabs.
