🔵 BLURZONE — SMART PRIVACY BLUR FOR YOUR BROWSER Ever been on a Zoom call and had to minimize half your screen just to hide sensitive data? Ever worked in an open office, painfully aware that your colleague can see your salary spreadsheet, your inbox, or your client list? BlurZone solves this elegantly. Select any area of your browser — drag a rectangle, just like taking a screenshot — and it's instantly blurred. The magic? The blur is smart. It reacts to your mouse. Move your cursor toward the blurred zone and the blur gently fades away, revealing the content only to you. Move your mouse away and it blurs back, automatically. No clicks. No shortcuts. Just move your mouse. ──────────────────────────────── ✦ HOW IT WORKS ──────────────────────────────── 1. Click the BlurZone icon in your toolbar (or press Alt+B) 2. Your screen dims slightly — you're in selection mode 3. Drag a rectangle over the area you want to protect 4. Done. That area is now blurred. Move your mouse toward the zone → blur fades smoothly Move your mouse away → blur returns automatically The closer you get, the clearer it becomes. It's your content, revealed only when you need it. ──────────────────────────────── ✦ PERFECT FOR ──────────────────────────────── • Screen sharing on Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams — keep sharing your screen without exposing passwords, emails, or financial data • Open offices and co-working spaces — work freely without worrying about who's looking over your shoulder • Recording tutorials, demos, or walkthroughs — blur out personal details before you hit record • Pair programming — share your screen with a colleague without exposing unrelated private tabs or notifications • Presentations — hide sections of a page until you're ready to reveal them • Customer support calls — share your browser without accidentally showing other clients' data ──────────────────────────────── ✦ FEATURES ──────────────────────────────── ◉ Drag-to-select any area Just like snipping a screenshot. Draw a rectangle over anything — a sidebar, an inbox, a price column, a name field — and it's blurred instantly. ◉ Smart proximity blur The blur isn't static. It responds to your mouse position in real time. The closer your cursor gets to the zone, the more the blur fades. Step inside the zone and it's completely clear. Step away and it blurs back. No interaction required. ◉ Multiple zones at once Blur your inbox AND your price column AND your notification panel — all at the same time. Add as many zones as you need on the same page. ◉ Per-window independence Each browser window has its own set of zones. The zones on your left monitor don't interfere with the zones on your right monitor. Perfect for multi-screen setups. ◉ Fully adjustable settings → Max blur intensity: set from 2px (subtle) to 30px (completely unreadable) → Proximity radius: control how close your mouse needs to get before the blur starts fading (50px to 400px) ◉ Keyboard shortcut Press Alt+B to instantly enter selection mode without opening the popup. ◉ Clean, minimal UI A small popup. A few sliders. A list of your active zones. That's it. No bloat, no unnecessary features, no dark patterns. ──────────────────────────────── ✦ PRIVACY — WE COLLECT NOTHING ──────────────────────────────── BlurZone does not collect any data. Ever. We don't track your browsing. We don't read your content. We don't send anything to any server. The only things stored on your device are two numbers: your blur intensity preference and your proximity preference. That's it. Blur zones themselves are stored only in memory — they disappear when you close or refresh the tab. Nothing is ever written to disk beyond your settings. BlurZone requires only two permissions: → activeTab: to inject the blur overlay into your current tab → storage: to remember your blur and proximity settings No host permissions. No access to all sites by default. No data collection. No analytics. ──────────────────────────────── ✦ TECHNICAL NOTES ──────────────────────────────── BlurZone uses CSS backdrop-filter for the blur effect, which means it blurs the actual content beneath the overlay — not just a frosted overlay on top. The result is a genuine, smooth blur that works on text, images, videos, and any other page content. Performance is optimized — the proximity calculation runs on every mousemove event using simple geometry (distance from point to rectangle), with no layout thrashing or repaints. Compatible with Chrome 88+ (all versions that support backdrop-filter). ──────────────────────────────── ✦ SUPPORT ──────────────────────────────── Found a bug? Have a feature request? We'd love to hear from you. BlurZone is actively maintained and improved based on user feedback. Protect your screen. Work freely. Stay focused. — The BlurZone Team
