Swallow Video Control
Overview
Seek HTML5 video ±10s using WebHID Consumer Control buttons (0x00B3/0x00B4). Single-target tab, with hold-to-repeat.
Swallow Video Control lets you set your own keyboard shortcuts for seeking video — and it can also enable dedicated Rewind/Fast Forward media buttons that often don’t work in browsers by default. Some keyboards and media remotes have Rewind and Fast Forward buttons, but in many browsers those keys do nothing. This extension fixes that by mapping them (and your custom hotkeys) to jump 10 seconds back or forward in HTML5 videos. Set your hotkeys 1. Click the extension icon 2. Click "Connect HID" or "Or set any hotkeys" (both open Settings) 3. In Settings, assign hotkeys for Rewind and Forward (supports Ctrl/Shift/Alt/Meta + a key) Connect a HID device (optional, for media buttons) 1. Open Settings 2. Click Connect HID 3. Choose your keyboard/remote (the device where Rewind/Fast Forward are configured) 4. The extension will keep listening in the background Rewind (0x00B4) or setted key → -10s Fast Forward (0x00B3) or setted key → +10s Hold the button to keep seeking It targets the right tab (no “seeking everywhere”) and doesn’t interfere with your standard media keys — Play/Pause/Next/Prev already work out of the box, while Rewind/Fast Forward often don’t, and that’s exactly what this extension adds.
