IE Compat Bridge helps legacy business web apps run more reliably in Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and other Chromium browsers. It is designed for old intranet systems, OA, HR, finance, ERP, WebForms, and internal business pages that mostly load in Chrome already, but still break around older browser behavior. The extension runs local compatibility fixes only on legacy hostnames that you configure and authorize. It focuses on common issues such as old frameset entry pages, Loading.htm redirects, IE-era event APIs, showModalDialog popups, iframe access patterns, and legacy date widgets. Key features: - Uses the same compatibility layer on macOS and Windows. - Does not depend on a Windows-only IE engine. - Does not require a native helper EXE. - Does not use remote IE or remote browser rendering. - Runs only on legacy hostnames you configure and authorize. - Shows an ON badge and in-page indicator when compatibility fixes are active. - Provides local diagnostics for legacy headers and compatibility signals. Important product boundary: IE Compat Bridge is not an Internet Explorer emulator. It does not run ActiveX, COM controls, VBScript, Java applets, Silverlight, Trident, or true IE7/IE8/IE11 document modes. If your legacy system requires a real IE engine or ActiveX controls, use Windows Edge IE mode, IE Tab, IEability, a Windows virtual machine, remote desktop, or another real IE-compatible environment. Privacy and permissions: The extension does not request access to all websites at install time. Website access is requested only for hostnames that you add in Options. License or access checks do not send the current page URL, page body text, screenshots, cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage, form values, browser history, or browser profile data. Diagnostics are generated locally and are copied only when you choose to copy them.
