TranscriptGrab: Free YouTube Transcript to Text
Overview
Copy or download any YouTube video's transcript as plain text, Markdown with clickable timestamps, or SRT. No account, no paywall.
Get a clean transcript from any YouTube video in one click. Open a video, click TranscriptGrab, and copy or download the text. There is no account to create, no API key to find and no usage limit. YouTube's own transcript panel can't be copied cleanly: timestamps get tangled into the text and there's no export. TranscriptGrab gives you tidy text you can paste straight into your notes, a document or an AI chat. It also runs entirely in your browser. Transcripts are fetched from YouTube by your own tab and formatted on your device. TranscriptGrab has no server, so your viewing never passes through ours. WHAT YOU CAN DO - Copy a transcript to the clipboard in one click - Download it as a .txt, .md or .srt file - Plain text, with or without timestamps - Markdown with timestamps that link to that exact moment in the video - SRT subtitle files with accurate start and end times - Choose from every caption language on the video, including auto-generated captions - Remove [Music], [Applause] and similar sound notes - Add a header with the title, channel, link, length and language - Merge caption lines into readable paragraphs, in short, medium or long lengths - Mark speaker changes when the captions include them - Export a playlist's loaded videos as one combined file or a ZIP with one file per video - Create your own output format with a custom template - Preview the result, with word and line counts, before you copy - Works on regular videos and Shorts - Light and dark themes that follow your system - Open it from the keyboard with Alt+Shift+T SET IT ONCE Pick your default format, preferred caption language, paragraph style and custom template, and whether creator captions should win over auto-generated ones. Your settings sync with your Chrome profile. GOOD FOR Students reviewing lectures, researchers and journalists quoting sources, creators repurposing videos into articles, and anyone who wants to paste a video into an AI chat or a notes app. COMPLETELY FREE Every feature listed above is free, with no paid tier, license key or subscription. A video needs captions for TranscriptGrab to work. If YouTube has no captions for a video, the popup tells you so. TranscriptGrab is not affiliated with YouTube or Google.
