Open the PDFs you find in Chrome in a clean, simple viewer, and reach free PDF and photo tools in one click. Nothing you open is sent to us, and this extension collects nothing. WHAT IT DOES • Shows the PDFs you open in Chrome in PDF and Photo’s viewer: find words (Ctrl+F, with match case, whole words and a list of every result), select and copy text, fill in forms, jump to any page from the page thumbnails or the PDF’s own bookmarks, type a page number to go there, zoom by percentage or with Ctrl + and Ctrl −, fit the page or the width, rotate the view, print, download, or open another PDF from your computer. • A PDF you open again starts at the page where you stopped reading. • Asks for the password when a PDF is protected. The password stays on the page. • Choose a tool while you look at a PDF, such as Fill & sign PDF, Compress PDF, Merge PDF or PDF to Word, and it opens in the same tab with that PDF already in it. Back brings you back to the PDF. The PDF goes from the viewer to the tool on pdfandphoto.com inside your browser. It is not uploaded. • “More tools” has every other tool for one PDF, among them Annotate PDF, Edit PDF text, Redact PDF, Bates numbering and PDF bundle maker. • A toolbar button with a search box and the most used tools: PDF tools, photo tools, and business tools such as the invoice maker. While a PDF is open in the tab in front, its PDF tools use that PDF. • A short welcome page when you first add it, with the one step for PDFs saved on your computer, and how to make PDF and Photo your computer’s PDF app as well. • Right-click a link to a PDF and choose “Open with PDF and Photo”. • One switch, “Open PDFs with PDF and Photo”, turns the viewer on or off whenever you like. YOUR FILES STAY WITH YOU • The viewer reads each PDF straight from where it is, the website that offers it or your computer, into Chrome. It never passes through our servers. • Once the viewer has asked for a PDF, it closes itself to the network: Chrome refuses any connection from the viewer page, and the part that reads the PDF can’t connect anywhere. • The extension collects nothing: no statistics, no browsing history, no file names, no addresses. It keeps only these in Chrome on your computer: the on/off switch, whether the viewer shows the page thumbnails, whether the welcome page has shown you the step for PDFs saved on your computer, and the page you were reading in each of the last 50 PDFs, known only by a fingerprint of the PDF (not its name or address). While a tab is open, Chrome also keeps a fingerprint (not the name or address) of a PDF from your computer shown in it, so the Back button works; it is gone when Chrome closes. When you choose a tool for an open PDF, the extension keeps that PDF in Chrome on your computer to pass it to the tool and to show it again when you go Back; it is removed when you go Back or close the tab, otherwise once 30 minutes have passed, and always when Chrome starts again. • All of its code is inside the extension. It loads nothing from the internet. GOOD TO KNOW • When you add it, Chrome asks to let it “Read and change all your data on all websites”. The extension needs this to show a PDF from any website in its viewer and to read that PDF. It does nothing else with the websites you visit: it adds nothing to their pages and reads nothing from them. • PDFs saved on your computer, such as email attachments and downloads, open in the viewer once you switch on “Allow access to file URLs” for the extension. Only you can switch it on: the welcome page shows how, with a button to the right page in Chrome. Until then, Chrome opens them as usual. • Fill in a PDF form right in the viewer, then download it with what you typed. To sign, mark up or change a PDF, pass it to the tools on pdfandphoto.com. The viewer opens PDFs of any size; without an account, most tools on the website take PDFs of up to 10 MB (Compress PDF up to 50 MB), and the viewer tells you when a PDF is bigger. • Most tools on pdfandphoto.com are free. A few professional ones, such as Annotate PDF, Edit PDF text and Bates numbering, can be tried free up to a limit and are unlimited with a paid plan on the website. • A few sites send a PDF only once, or only to their own pages, so the viewer can’t load it a second time. It then offers to show that one PDF without PDF and Photo. • Left to Chrome, as before: a PDF the website marks as a download, a PDF shown inside another page, and a PDF sent back after you submit a form. • Made for Chrome on computers, version 128 or later.
